Chula and Siam Piwat Sign MOU to Connect Knowledge with Real-World Experience

Chulalongkorn University and Siam Piwat Co., Ltd. have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to promote and develop collaboration in academic, professional, and research fields. The partnership aims to connect knowledge from the university with the experience and capabilities of the business sector while providing students with opportunities to learn from real-world situations, develop professional skills, and build pathways toward employment. The signing ceremony was held on September 14, 2026, at Chulalongkorn University’s Chula Narumit House.

At the ceremony, Prof. Dr. Wilert Puriwat, President of Chulalongkorn University, discussed the objectives of the initiative and the framework for collaboration between the two organizations. Ms. Amporn Chotruchsakul, President and Managing Director of Siam Piwat Co., Ltd., spoke about the origins of the initiative and how the partnership could be further developed into practical work opportunities. This was followed by the formal signing of the MOU between Chulalongkorn University and Siam Piwat Co., Ltd. The event was moderated by Asst. Prof. Dr. Thiraput Pitichat, Assistant to the President for Organizational Development at Chulalongkorn University.

The collaboration between Chulalongkorn University and Siam Piwat Co., Ltd. stems from a shared commitment to creating a tangible connection between the strengths of academia and the business sector. Chulalongkorn University places importance on building partnerships with the private sector to develop and exchange knowledge, academic work, and research, while connecting academic learning with practical experience. Siam Piwat, meanwhile, brings extensive experience and capabilities in real estate development, the built environment, and spatial development, which can be shared and further developed in conjunction with the university’s academic expertise.

Under the framework of the agreement, the two parties will jointly promote, develop, and exchange knowledge, academic work, and research projects in relevant fields, including architecture, industrial design, real estate development, landscape architecture, interior architecture, community and urban design, and urban planning. The partnership will also focus on workforce development and creating hands-on learning experiences for students, enabling academic knowledge to relate to and be applied to real-world situations.

Another key objective of the collaboration is to promote the exchange of knowledge, information, technology, and experience between academia and professional practice. This will help support the development of new knowledge that can be applied in real-world contexts. At the same time, students will have opportunities to develop their knowledge and skills through hands-on learning, joint projects and activities with the business sector, internships, professional training, and employment opportunities. These experiences will help prepare students to enter the workforce and enable them to appropriately apply classroom knowledge to real business challenges.

In addition, the two organizations plan to jointly organize a wide range of academic and professional activities, including teaching and learning activities, training programs, seminars, workshops, exhibitions, short courses, and activities for students. The partnership will also connect networks among universities, industry, and domestic and international partners to initiate and develop projects that can create value across the economic, social, and environmental dimensions.

For Prof. Dr. Wilert Puriwat, President of Chulalongkorn University, “This collaboration represents another important step in connecting academic knowledge with real-world experience and practice. Meaningful learning should not be confined to the classroom; it must be capable of creating change. Chulalongkorn University is ready to bring together the capabilities of our faculty members, researchers, students, and knowledge from diverse disciplines with the experience of the business sector to develop both ‘people’ who possess the knowledge and skills needed for the future and ‘knowledge’ that can generate tangible benefits for society. This can further lead to research, innovation, and development that address the needs of the country’s cities, economy, society, and environment.”

Ms. Amporn Chotruchsakul, President and Managing Director of Siam Piwat Co., Ltd., noted that “This signing is not merely a collaboration between two organizations. It represents our shared commitment to believing in the potential of ‘people’ and creating opportunities for everyone to learn, grow, and build on their capabilities in order to create value for society. This is at the heart of the ‘Siam Piwat Way,’ which seeks to create shared value for people, communities, society, and the nation by serving as a platform for opportunities and collaboration across all sectors.

“Therefore, this collaboration brings together the power of academia with the realities of the workplace, creating opportunities to exchange knowledge, innovation, creativity, and the perspectives of the younger generation. These exchanges can then be translated into action and tangible outcomes, while helping to drive sustainable development for society and Thailand.”

The collaboration is expected to lead to the establishment of a clear and ongoing framework for joint activities, facilitating the exchange of knowledge, technology, and experience among faculty members, researchers, experts, and business-sector professionals. This will contribute to the development of new knowledge and its application in real-world situations.

At the same time, Chulalongkorn students will gain opportunities to develop their knowledge and skills through practical experience, including academic activities, joint projects, internships, and professional training.

The MoU signing between Chulalongkorn University and Siam Piwat Co., Ltd. marks another significant step in connecting academic knowledge with the experience and capabilities of the business sector. It creates a platform for learning, research, and people’s development based on real-world challenges, while laying the foundation for continued collaboration that can generate tangible benefits for the economy, society, environment, and the nation.
