Chulalongkorn University Announcement
To ensure uninterrupted and efficient operation of the University, and the safety and wellbeing of students and personnel, it is deemed appropriate to issue the following announcements:
1. All offices in Bangkok will resume normal operating hours starting on March 1, 2021.
2. Once the offices are open, all Work Sections and agencies must strictly and routinely implement preventive measures against the spread of COVID-19 disease as ordered by the relevant government agencies, and University. All precautions must be taken to prevent, avoid and reduce the spread of COVID-19, especially temperature measurement, screening for illness, wearing a mask, and social distancing among people using the space.Cleaning of the area should be done regularly, and sufficient sanitizing gel/alcohol must be amply provided for the public to instill good personal hygiene habits in students and personnel, for good health and quality of life.
3. Students and personnel must strictly comply with the government’s and university’s measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19, including wearing a mask, regular hand washing, keeping social distance, following processes of entering and exiting places, avoiding traveling to crowded places, or to at-risk areas, gathering, socializing, eating together, or having intimate conversation. Students and personnel must also follow the news and information from the university closely.
Should students, or personnel who are close to those infected with COVID-19, or those who reside in the areas under the government’s strictest control, need to come to campus or offices, the Section Heads or supervising Vice Presidents may set additional requirements or screening methods, e.g. a medical certificate, or other types of risk assessment methods as they see fit.
4. Instructions, course measurement, measurement, and evaluation should follow the guidelines set forth in Chulalongkorn University Announcement on Guidelines for Instructions, Course Measurement, Measurement, and Evaluation for the Second Semester and Summer Session, Academic Year 2020 (No. 2) dated February 25, 2021, which mandated a blended learning with focus on online format until further notice.
5. On-and-off-campus activities may be organized only if necessary, and preferably in online format. Also, gatherings of people should be avoided.
Should there be a need to make preparations on campus, the Section Heads and supervising Vice Presidents may consider giving permission as deemed appropriate.
6. For operations, the Section Heads and supervising Vice Presidents may designate which personnel to work at the office or work from home as appropriate, by alternating workdays, or overlapping work hours, depending on the nature necessity of work, and location or other necessity to reduce congestion in the workplace, and prevent the spread of COVID-19.
7. Should students or personnel need to study, do research or work off-campus, the Section Heads and supervising Vice Presidents may give permission as necessary and appropriate to the situation. Once permission is granted, such students or personnel must strictly follow the order of government agencies, officials, or local preventive measures.
Should students or personnel need to study, do research or work in the strictest-controlled areas ordered by the government, the Section Heads and supervising Vice Presidents may consider giving preliminary opinions and submit a request to the COVID-19 Emergency Operations Center Committee for approval.
8. The instructions, course management, measurement, and evaluation, as well as organization of activities for the Chulalongkorn University Demonstration Schools, are at the discretion of the Faculty of Education Dean with the safety of students and the effectiveness of teaching and learning in mind. The announcements or orders of the government, related agencies, and the University must be strictly observed.
9. The Section Heads and supervising Vice Presidents may specify additional details or guidelines for students and personnel so long as they are not in conflict with this order.
10. In case of problems or inconveniences in the implementation of this order, the Section Heads or supervising Vice Presidents have the final authority.
This announcement shall take effect on March 1, 2021, until announced otherwise by the University.
