Overview
The Master of Science in Petroleum and Energy Technology (International Program) is a two-year graduate program offered by the Petroleum and Petrochemical College (PPC), Chulalongkorn University. Following the discovery of abundant natural gas in the Gulf of Thailand in the eighties, there was a strong demand for qualified manpower to work in the fast-growing petrochemical and related industries. The Petroleum and Petrochemical College was thus established in 1988 to produce graduates of high international standards in the fields of petroleum and petrochemical technology and polymer science, comparable to the graduates from world-leading institutions.
The Master Degree Program in Petroleum and Energy Technology (International Program) was launched in 2002, in conjunction with the Institut Français du Pétrole in France, University of Michigan and University of Oklahoma. Global trends in petroleum and energy consumption, international environmental policies, and the national policy of Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) that is part of Thailand 4.0 Strategic Plan, is expected to create exponential growth of industrial development both in the region and worldwide. In order to provide manpower to accommodate these trends and to ensure the sustainable development of Thailand, the Program aims at producing graduates with knowledge and skills in petroleum and alternative energies in economic, social, and environmental aspects through real-world problem-based learning.
