Launched in 2019, the Bachelor of Arts and Science in Integrated Innovation (BAScii) is Chula’s newest international program. It is the first one of its kind in Asia to offer a transdisciplinary curriculum that integrates Chula’s best of academics in art and science, dissolves the boundaries of conventional disciplines, and organizes teaching and learning in the context of the real world.

As the ‘Global Academy for the Future’, BAScii prepares students to become leaders in the world of technology and innovation of the 21st century with global partnerships, opportunities of industry internship and mandatory semester abroad in the top-ranked universities or corporations. All BAScii experiences are tailored towards developing business and industries of the future with promising international career prospects.

In BAScii, students gain both soft skills required in the 21st century and obtain knowledge in both business and technology cores, before honing in on specializations through mentored project-based learning.  The school offers four specializations — Health and Wellbeing, Inclusive Community and Smart City, Sustainable Development, and Applied Digital Intelligence.

Towards the end of the BAScii Program, all students are expected to become competitive entrepreneurs and life-long learners, potentially with their businesses or startups that are up and running.

WHY this program
at Chula

The First and Foremost Engineering Institute of the Kingdom

BAScii is a unique program that is the first of its kind in Asia. It offers a transdisciplinary curriculum integrating the best of academics in both art and science from Chulalongkorn University. It dissolves the traditional boundaries of conventional disciplines and synthesizes diverse subjects while providing experiences from academia as well as the corporate sector. BAScII’s curriculum, organizational culture, program structure, and student experiences are hinged on teaching and learning in the context of real-world situations. With international faculty, staff, and students, the program provides a diversity of experiences, including a compulsory international semester abroad.

Disruptive Education for Disruptive Generations (Next Gen, Gen Z, ‘iGeneration’, Gen Me)

Our world is changing and accelerating under the impetus of new and digital technologies. Many stakeholders are involved in this innovation, but start-ups — with their disruptive mentality and quick-thinking in visualizing new digital solutions – really stand out from the crowd.  Through collaboration, startups and large businesses are now working hand in hand to create tools and services which make the world safer, more innovative, and more sustainable.  The new generation needs a new set of relevant skills including technology literacy, multi-tasking, entrepreneurship, networking, and collaboration, to succeed in this rapidly-changing global landscape.

Design Your Own Program that is Relevant and Impactful

Apart from necessary skills for global citizenship of the 21st Century, students need a program that is relevant to the issues that are important to them; and that will help them make a significant impact on local, national, and global scales as they confront challenges to create better societies and a better world. At BAScii, students can customize their own program, develop their own study methodology with the guidance of faculties, and choose specializations based on their interest. They will have access to courses, research labs, projects, workshops, internships and exchange abroad.

Global Experience

BAScii students can take advantage of the program’s partnership with universities around the world to study through an Exchange Program, attend international workshops and study tours, participate in research projects, and join internships to gain real-world experience and ‘networlding’.
