Master of Science in Finance (MSF) is one of the two master’s programs under the umbrella of the Department of Banking and Finance, Chulalongkorn Business School, Chulalongkorn University. The program was established in October 1996 in response to rapid changes in both the domestic and international financial markets. The curriculum has been under constant revision to keep the MSF Program full of innovation, academic rigor, and new challenges.
MSF Program offers graduate students the latest advanced knowledge in the field of finance. The program’s lecturing staff are from Chulalongkorn University’s own faculty and experts in the financial services industry. Students admitted to the program will be provided with cutting-edge knowledge and facilities. Upon completion of the course, students will be able to work throughout the financial services fields, such as corporate treasury, banks, investment banks, and other financial institutions.
The first and finest master program in finance in Thailand established in 1996, MSF Program has been producing high quality graduates to the finance industry and the business world over the past two decades. MSF students receive their cutting-edge education with breakthrough curriculum to accelerate their career in finance. They will also have experience dialoguing with C-level Executives from leading companies and industries.
In early 2015, MSF Program was granted an initial 3-year EPAS accreditation and in 2018, a 5-year re-accreditation by European Foundation for Management Development or EFMD (a globally-recognized accreditation body for business schools, business school programs, and corporate universities). Moreover, Chulalongkorn Business School [CBS] is also awarded with the world-class AACSB accreditation which represents the highest standard of achievement for business schools worldwide. Less than 5 percent of the more than 16,000 schools worldwide granting business degrees have earned AACSB Accreditation. This is solid proof of CBS’s highest standard of teaching and research quality, and CBS will continue to play an active role and strive for excellence on the global stage. In addition to AACSB accreditation, Chulalongkorn Business School is also awarded with the world-class EQUIS accreditation by European Foundation of Management Development (EFMD), joining fewer than 200 EQUIS accredited schools worldwide. This is further proven CBS’s excellent academic development that attracts high-quality students as well as well-structured academic programs.
MSF students will benefit from the expertise of our distinguished faculty who are graduates from world-leading business schools and to widen their body of knowledge through prominent visiting professors from various regions of the world who are experts in the financial industry. They will also have plenty of opportunities to learn from regular lectures and talks from C-level executives and influential figures in diverse industries. The MSF program provides plentiful students exchange opportunities: Inbound, Outbound, Freemover, and Study Trip. Exchange students from partner universities around the world abroad will experience the unique Thai culture and new insights into the area of finance in one of the fastest-growing and emerging countries at the heart of Bangkok.
Outbound students from Thailand will have opportunities to develop their academic skills and gain new insights in the area of finance by studying with our partner universities around the world. They will be able to explore different teaching styles and the different ways of problem solving, as strengthen their academic profile and starting their network for the future.
MSF also welcomes students from non-partner universities who can enroll up to five courses per one academic term through Freemover Program. The Program also arranges study trips to visit a partner universities and financial institutes as well. Read more.

Students in both programs have two options to choose: Plan A (Thesis option) and Plan B (Special project option). Students who have less than one-year work experience are required to choose Plan A and to enroll in Full-time program according to the Chulalongkorn University guidelines. Upon completion of the course, students will be able to work throughout the financial services fields, such as corporate treasury, banks, investment banks, and other financial institutions.
Application submission for new students usually takes place during November to May (please check with the Faculty for specific dates).

The MSF Program requires 36 credit hours to complete and the maximum study period of both full-time program and flexible program is 4 years.
Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s degree of any major, have TOEFL iBT score of 68, TOEFL PBT score of 520, TOEFL ITP score of 520, IELTS score of 5.5 or CUTEP score of 70 Valid if taken within 2 years; have one-year work experience* (Only required for applicants who choose to study in Full-Time Plan B program or Flexible Program).
*Note on Work experience: Internship can be counted as work experience. Applicant’s work experience can be counted till the day of application.
