Overview

The Master of Science program in Food Science and Technology (International Program) offered by the Department of Food Technology, Faculty of Science, was established in 2009. The program is open for Thais and non-Thai residents.  The curriculum is aimed at giving students advanced practical skills and comprehensive knowledge in food processing, food research, and development, as well as food quality control and safety. The courses are taught in English. The program is a minimum of 2 years.

World Class International Accreditation

The Master of Science program in Food Science and Technology (International Program) has received accreditation from the EQAS’ European Quality Assurance in Food Science and Technology accredited by the ISEKI-Food Foundation since February 2019.

Multinational Environment and International Opportunities

Our student body consists of students from around the World.  Our graduates successfully pursue their careers in food science and technology both in Thailand and internationally.  Our students can take advantage of exchange programs with several international universities.  For example, they may apply for a student exchange program (1 semester) at the University of Teramo, Italy.  We also have collaboration with the University of Tokyo, Tokyo University of Fisheries, University of Nottingham, University of Massachusetts, University of Alberta, Reading University, Massey University, University of Georgia, University of Teramo, Technical University of Munich, Gifu University and University of New South Wales.

Extensive International Academic Network

Our academic staff are graduates from well-known universities in Food Science and Technology from around the World and are still maintaining contacts with those universities for research collaboration, student exchanges, internships as well as double degree programs.

State-of-Art Facilities and Equipment

Our Department of Food Technology has a strong working relationship with other departments and faculties at Chulalongkorn University. Students will have access to modern technologies and equipment.  We also have our own Food Pilot Plant of students to practice and do research at Saraburi Province. Our Food Research and Testing Laboratory (FTRL) is ISO/IEC 17025 certified.

Career Opportunities

The Communication Management program is designed to provide intellectual and Our graduates work in local and international food industry, or governmental organizations dealing with international trading or law for the food industry.

Admission

1. Applicants must hold a Bachelor of Science in Food Technology or related fields. For other related degree holders, an approval from the Academic Program Subcommittee is required. Students completing their eligible degrees in the last semester can also apply. 

2. Applicants from areas other than Food Technology or Food Science or Food Science and Technology must enroll in the basic food technology subjects (Food Processing, Food Microbiology, and Food Chemistry) that the department’s Graduate Program Administration Committee will consider for each particular student.

Documents required for application

  1. Application form and a concept proposal (800-1000 words) with a photo attached;
  2. TOEFL or IELTS scores or CU-TEP (for those who do not have TOEFL or IELTS score).  Candidates whose first language is not English must undertake a proper English proficiency test and meet the following requirement:
  3. Three sealed recommendation letters;
  4. Academic transcript (In English) and certification of graduation of Bachelor’s degree;
  5. Copy of passport;
  6. Applicant’s CV.

The committee of M.Sc. in Food Science and Technology will consider the application and documents and accept them as M.Sc. candidates. The names of selected students will be posted on the website of Chulalongkorn University’s Graduate Department and students will be notified by the secretariat of the M.Sc. Program.
