The MSc in Energy Geosciences (formerly Petroleum Geoscience) at Chulalongkorn University is a postgraduate program that focuses on the study of the geological aspects of energy resources in the energy transition.
The program aims to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to understand the geology of energy resources for a low-carbon future, as well as the environmental and economic implications of their extraction and use.
Chulalongkorn University is one of the most prestigious universities in Thailand. Our campus is conveniently located in the heart of Bangkok and easily accessible via public transportation. Major petroleum industries, as well as national and international companies are in proximity to the campus.
Our teaching also provides students with the latest knowledge and tools necessary to keep up with these advancements and work with cutting-edge technologies.
The program adheres to rigorous international standards and is delivered by renowned experts in the field, both from within and beyond Chulalongkorn University, all of whom maintain strong connections with the petroleum and renewable energy industries. This program is specifically tailored to geologists and geophysicists, providing comprehensive technical and theoretical training in reservoir geology, geophysics, exploration geology, and basin studies to prepare students for careers in the low-carbon industry.
A strong emphasis is placed on developing the skills required for employment in the petroleum industry. Consequently, the courses all include a significant component of practical problem-solving and exercises.
The program staff also offers a wide variety of technical services in exploration and production geology and geophysics. These range from integrated basin analysis to detailed reservoir studies including sequence stratigraphic analysis of seismic and well data, structural analysis and interpretation of well and seismic data, and petrographic and facies analysis of clastic and carbonate sediments. Candidates must hold a high quality degree in Geology, Geoscience, Earth Science, Geotechnology, Geophysics or related field. A degree in closely related subject with appropriate work experience will be considered.
Having TOEFL score of at least 475 (paper-based) or TOEFL score equivalent to 475. Optionally, the CU-TEP with a score 57 or IELTS 4.5 is acceptable.
