Free AI Literacy for All:  Chula, MHESI, and AIS Launch “Aunjai Cyber” Course 

Chulalongkorn University, in collaboration with the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research, and Innovation (MHESI), and AIS, has launched the course “Aunjai Cyber: AI Literacy.” This digital learning program is designed to enhance AI knowledge and skills among Thai people. It was developed in partnership with AI experts from various fields, covering topics from the fundamentals of AI and its everyday applications to safe, creative, and ethical usage.

The course content has been certified by MHESI and is currently being further developed to allow students to accumulate learning hours that may be converted into academic credits in the future. This marks an important step in expanding access to AI education on a wider scale.

Professor Dr. Wilert Puriwat, President of Chulalongkorn University, stated that amid rapid changes in digital technology and AI, people must learn to coexist, collaborate, and use technology critically. Educational institutions must also adapt their roles to become “creators of quality individuals” who are ready for the modern world. Chulalongkorn University is committed to developing and disseminating AI knowledge under the concept of Responsible AI, aiming to enhance student learning and produce graduates with digital skills who can effectively apply AI in the future. 

Recognizing the importance of AI for national development, the university has brought together experts from various disciplines to design comprehensive and practical course content. At the same time, it aims to provide accessible learning opportunities for all sectors. This collaboration between the public sector, private sector, and higher education institutions represents a significant step in promoting AI education and fostering flexible, inclusive digital citizenship—ensuring AI becomes an opportunity for everyone to contribute to workforce development and a sustainable future. 

Dr. Panphermsak Arunee, Deputy Permanent Secretary of MHESI, emphasized the ministry’s focus on workforce development through lifelong learning systems to keep pace with the AI-driven world. The goal is to enhance AI literacy alongside critical thinking and ethical technology use, thereby creating high-quality digital citizens. 

This collaboration expands learning opportunities to students nationwide and prepares over 1.8 million individuals to effectively adapt to future changes. It also reflects MHESI’s mission to drive a lifelong learning ecosystem and sustainably develop Thailand’s human capital. 

Mrs. Saichon Submakudom, Chief of Corporate Communications at AIS, stated that AIS, as a leader in intelligent network and digital technology, is integrating AI as a core driver of its operations. The company is also building a comprehensive AI ecosystem, including innovations like AISpace (an AI service hub), digital skills development through LearnDi for Thais, and workforce development via AIS Academy. 

AIS aims to elevate Digital Literacy to AI Literacy to strengthen cyber resilience and deepen AI knowledge through the course “Aunjai Cyber AI Literacy: My AI Buddy.” This builds on the ongoing Aunjai Cyber project, which has been running since 2019 and has already reached over 1.05 million learners. The course is expected to help Thai people use AI safely, creatively, and confidently, supporting a transition to a sustainable digital society. 

The launch event also featured a special talk titled “Share Case – Show Course: AI Literacy as an Essential Skill for the Modern Era,” along with a “Prompt Battle” activity to showcase creative AI applications. 

Associate Professor Dr. Atiwong Suchato (Deputy Dean of Engineering, IT Division), Dr. Watsayut Kongchan (Deputy Dean of Communication Arts), and Mr. Pakpoom Dechhasdin (Deputy Director of Sukavej Hospital and owner of the “Doctor Lab Panda” page) shared experiences and case studies on AI applications across various contexts. They emphasized the importance of AI literacy (AICY) as a key lifelong learning skill. 

Within the next decade, AI is expected to influence all professions. Therefore, individuals must develop broad, adaptable skills to integrate AI tools into both work and daily life creatively and ethically. Learning AI today is no longer highly technical—it has become a communication skill accessible to people of all ages, requiring continuous updates and learning. 

The “Aunjai Cyber: AI Literacy” course can also be widely applied as a learning framework in higher education institutions to sustainably enhance AI skills and digital resilience among Thai youth.
