2. Experimentation and Validation of Applications
Discovery sessions to identify and evaluate promising quantum use cases, alongside pilot programs to test applications in controlled environments before scaling.

3. Talent Exchange and Workforce Development
Internship programs for Chulalongkorn students at SCBX, residency/exchange programs for SCBX employees at SQ², and mentorship initiatives connecting academics with technology professionals.

4. Ecosystem Building and Technology Education
Workshops on quantum learning, Quantum Industry Day events, and innovation challenges such as hackathons to identify commercially viable innovations.

5. Strategic Foresight and Public Awareness Publication of the “SCBX Quantum Outlook” report to share insights and trends in quantum technology with the public, along with joint communications and outreach efforts both domestically and across the region.

Prof. Dr. Wilert Puriwat
President, Chulalongkorn University

Prof. Dr. Wilert Puriwat stated that quantum technology is one of the world’s most disruptive technologies and is expected to reshape science, the economy, and society over the next decade—representing an even larger wave of transformation than the AI era. As a result, Chulalongkorn University has elevated quantum technology to a strategic priority, aiming to become a driving force for the country by bridging laboratory research with industrial applications to generate tangible economic and social value.

He added that SCBX’s decision, as a leader in financial innovation, to choose Chulalongkorn University as a strategic partner in quantum technology reflects confidence in the university’s personnel and research capabilities.

“This memorandum marks the beginning of a sustainable collaboration that will generate high-impact research, cultivate a new generation of quality quantum professionals, and elevate Thailand into one of ASEAN’s leading quantum technology hubs.”
Mr. Kaweewut Temphuwapat
Chief Innovation Officer, SCBX Public Company Limited and CEO, SCB10X Company Limited

Mr. Kaweewut Temphuwapat said that quantum technology is poised to become a major transformational force capable of reshaping the financial industry. He noted that SCBX’s role extends beyond preparing the organization itself—it also involves helping build the nation’s “technological immunity.”

He explained that the collaboration with Chulalongkorn University and SQ² will systematically translate research knowledge into real-world applications through research, experimentation, and talent development. SCBX also aims to work with all sectors to expand public knowledge and lay a strong infrastructure foundation so Thailand can confidently and sustainably enter the quantum era.

A Significant Milestone for Thailand’s Quantum Ecosystem

Asst. Prof. Dr. Salinporn Kittiwatanakul, Head of SQ², explained that the center was established under the Faculty of Science at Chulalongkorn University to serve as Thailand’s hub for quantum technology research and development. The collaboration with SCBX will provide students and researchers opportunities to work on real industry problems while also creating new career paths in quantum-related fields for Thai youth.

This agreement is regarded as one of Thailand’s most significant strategic collaborations between academia and the private sector in the field of quantum technology. It is expected to lead to the development of research projects, pilot programs, and highly skilled personnel that will form the foundation of Thailand’s quantum industry in the coming decade.
