Congratulations to the Center of Excellence for Multicultural Studies at the Institute of Asian Studies, Chulalongkorn University, for receiving the Special Mention Award in 2023 for the television drama “Letter From the Sun, That Time… Never Forgotten” at the 6th Innovative International Film Festival (IIFF) in Bangalore, Karnataka, India.
“Letter From the Sun, That Time… Never Forgotten” narrates the profound value of craftsmanship in Thai Liphao basketry. This project, conceptualized and researched by Dr. Dollaya Tiantong of the Institute of Asian Studies, Chulalongkorn University, is produced and broadcasted by the Thai PBS television station. As an applied research endeavor aimed at innovating Thai culture and creating societal impact from the national to international level, it marks a new dimension of collaboration between academia and the cultural and social innovation center of the Institute of Asian Studies. The project involves collaborations with professionals from the private sector, specifically media and entertainment producers, as well as the public sector, including the Thai PBS television station and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The Department of Information at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is publishing this work on behalf of Thailand to gain international recognition. A ceremony was held on January 18, 2024, at the reception room of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to present awards and congratulate the operating team.
