Chulalongkorn University, in Collaboration with TUN-HPN, Organizes the 2nd Thai Healthy University Network Conference

Prof. Dr. Narin Hiransuthikul, Vice President for Strategic Monitoring and Assessment, Planning, Budgeting and Well-being, Prof. Dr. Bussakorn Binson, former Dean of Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts and the Creative Arts Research and Innovation for Well-being Center, Asst. Prof. Dr. Nattasuda Taephant, Dean of Faculty of Psychology, and Dr. Santhiti Dahlan, Acting Director of the Chulalongkorn Health Service Center, represented Chulalongkorn University at the 2nd Thai Healthy University Network Conference under the theme ”Building a Culture of Health Promotion: Fostering Mental Health Awareness and Support on Campus.” The conference, organized as part of the Thai University Network – Health Promotion Network (TUN-HPN), with Prof. Dr. Narin Hiransuthikul, 2023 TUN-HPN President, as chair, took place on March 21, 2024, at Rajmontien Grand Ballroom, Montien Hotel Surawong Bangkok.

The 2nd Thai Healthy University Network Conference, held from March 21-22, 2024, aimed to provide space for the Thai University Network – Health Promotion Network (TUN-HPN) and interested Thai universities to exchange experiences of mental health care and the development of mental health care mechanisms in Thai universities, which will benefit the promotion of health in universities. The conference was sponsored by Thai Health Promotion Foundation (ThaiHealth). The objective of this collaboration between TUN institutions that are regional leaders, namely Khon Kaen University, Chulalongkorn University, Chiang Mai University, Burapha University, Prince of Songkla University, and Mahidol University, is to join forces in driving health promotion policy through mutual learning and research. There is also a need to expand and strengthen the networks in and outside the country for a more comprehensive implementation of the framework of health promoting universities. The ultimate goal is to achieve the international status of “Healthy Universities” and effect sustainable health of the general public both at present and in the future.
The conference was also attended by Prof. Dr. Thunwadee Suksaroj, Deputy Secretary-General of AUN-HPN and Acting Deputy Director for Administration of ASEAN Institute for Health Development, Mahidol University, Dr. Varoth Chotpitayasunodh, Spokesperson of Department of Mental Health, Ministry of Public Health, Dr. Nattapant Suppaka, Director of Partnership Relations and International Relations Office, Thai Health Promotion Foundation (ThaiHealth), Dr. Choltis Dhirathiti, Director of the AUN Secretariat, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chuthamanee Suthisisang, Secretary-General of AUN-HPN and Acting Director of ASEAN Institute for Health Development, Mahidol University.Special lectures on youth’s mental health situations were also given from extinguished speakers. The lectures were as follows:
- “Thai Teenagers’ Mental Health Situations” by Dr. Varoth Chotpitayasunodh, Spokesperson of Department of Mental Health, Ministry of Public Health
- “Roles of Academic Institutions in Promoting and Developing Students’ Mental Health and Wellbeing” by Prof. Dr. Narin Hiransuthikul, 2023 TUN-HPN President and Vice President for Strategic Monitoring and Assessment, Planning, Budgeting and Well-being, Chulalongkorn University
- “Students’ Mental Health Survey and Promotion of Mental Health Mechanisms in Thai University Network” by Asst. Prof. Dr. Nattasuda Taephant, Dean of Faculty of Psychology
- “Integration of Neurotechnology and Multimodal Lifestyle Intervention to Promote Mental Wellbeing and Brain Operation Effectiveness” by Asst. Prof. Dr. Sirawaj Itthipuripat, King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi
- “Thai Students’ “Depression” Problem: Mental Health Survey by Happy University Project” by Dr. Nucharapon Liangruenrom, Institute for Population and Social Research, Mahidol University
The conference also featured a seminar on “University Students’ Mental Health Situation: Problems and Methods” and an exhibition on Mindful Wellness: Fostering Mental Wellbeing.
Chulalongkorn University, as Head of Thai University Network- Health Promotion Network (TUN-HPN) 2023, has handed over the duty to the Head of TUN-HPN 2024. In addition, Chulalongkorn University was awarded a 4-star rating from the Healthy University Rating System (HURS) 2023 for the second year, with Dr. Choltis Dhirathiti, Director of the AUN Secretariat, presenting the award.
