On July 23, 2024, at Room 203, Chamchuri 4 Building, Chulalongkorn University, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Palanee Ammaranond, Acting Vice President, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pannee Cheewinsiriwat, Acting Assistant to the President for Research Affairs, Chulalongkorn University, welcomed executives and faculty members from the Chinese Research Academy of Environmental Sciences (CRAES), the People’s Republic of China, led by Dr. CHEN Sheng, Vice President. The visit’s purpose is to generate ideas, exchange information, and create future collaboration.
The executives and faculty members from Chulalongkorn University to welcome the delegates from CRAES included a distinguished guest Prof. Emeritus Surichai Wun’gaeo, Prof. Dr. Rungsun Rerknimitr, Acting Assistant to the President of Chulalongkorn University for Innovation Affairs, Prof. Dr. Boonyarach Kitiyanan, Acting Assistant to the President for Sustainable Development Goals, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vithaya Kulsomboon, Director of the Second Century Fund office (C2F), Asst. Prof. Dr. Noppadon Kitana, Head of the Biology Department, Faculty of Science, Prof. Dr. Suchana Chavanich, Deputy Director of the Aquatic Resources Research Institute, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Jenyuk Lohwacharin, Head of the Department of Environmental and Sustainable Engineering, and Dr. Bualuang Faiyue, researcher at the Environmental Research Institute.
The Chinese Research Academy of Environmental Sciences (CRAES) was established in 1978 under the supervision of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment of the People’s Republic of China, with the objective to develop environmental science, innovation, and technology to address environmental problems arising from economic and social development. Currently, CRAES collaborates scientifically with institutions in various countries around the world. This visit to Chulalongkorn University was to discuss the management of environmental and biodiversity challenges in Thailand, and opportunities for collaboration on environmental research. This also included the future exchange of faculty members, researchers with expertise from both organizations, and students between the two institutions.
