Chulalongkorn School of Integrated Innovation (CSII) proudly hosted the Grand Mentor Introduction Day on August 30, 2024, a key event in the BAScii academic calendar. This event offers BAScii students a valuable opportunity to connect with mentors who will guide and support them in the development of student-led start-up projects throughout the year.
A Diverse Network of Expertise
The Grand Mentor Introduction Day brought together over 400 participants, including BAScii students and mentors from a wide range of industries. The event featured both long-time supporters of CSII and several new faces. Among the distinguished CSII mentors are some of the most respected professionals and impactful innovators, including Mr. Patai Padungtin, CEO of Builk One Group and Founder of the Thai Startup Association; Dr. James Lee, PhD, Partner at LNHP (Thailand) Co., Ltd.; and Dr. Pae Natwilai Utoomprurkporn, Founder of Trick and BinDai.
This year’s event was particularly notable as some of the BAScii alumni from the first batch of the program (BAScii 001) returned as mentors, demonstrating their commitment to the CSII Innovation Ecosystem and their readiness to support the next generation of innovators.
Objectives and Impact
The Grand Mentor Introduction Day is a vital kick-off for the mentoring journey, where students get to learn about the diverse backgrounds and areas of expertise of CSII mentors. Dr. Ronnakorn Vaiyavuth, a CSII Faculty Member who oversees BAScii student projects, elaborated on how these projects are supported:
“We nurture student innovation projects using the A-School model. This model allows us to perfectly match student groups with the appropriate mentor based on the maturity stage of both sides. This approach enhances the student’s educational experience by integrating real-world perspectives into their academic learning. Mentorship is vital for bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application.”
Through the insights gained at the Grand Mentor Introduction Day, each student team is paired with a mentor who aligns with their business focus, ensuring tailored support.
