Chula's Medical, Engineering, and Demonstration School Students Win a Silver at IGEM 2024 Grand Jamboree in France 

Students from Chulalongkorn University’s Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Engineering, and Chulalongkorn University Demonstration School brought pride to Thailand and Chulalongkorn University by winning a silver medal at the IGEM 2024 Grand Jamboree—The World Expo of Synthetic Biology, the largest synthetic biology innovation event. This year’s competition included as many as 9,507 participants from 410 teams across 48 countries and took place from October 23-26, 2024, at Paris Expo Porte de Versailles in Paris, France. This was Chulalongkorn University’s debut in the Software and AI category of the competition.

Chulalongkorn University medical and engineering students, along with students from Chulalongkorn University Demonstration School, who won the silver medal at the IGEM 2024 Grand Jamboree – The World Expo of Synthetic Biology, include: 

  • Mr. Atikan Huancharoenton, 1st-year medical student at Chulalongkorn University 
  • Mr. Wiphu Setthawong, 1st-year medical student at Chulalongkorn University 
  • Mr. Natchanon Rodarwood, 3rd-year medical student at Chulalongkorn University
  • Ms. Issariya Issariyawanit, 2nd-year medical student at Chulalongkorn University 
  • Mr. Pitpiboon Luksiri, 1st-year medical student at Chulalongkorn University 
  • Mr. Theerapas Apinankul, 1st-year engineering student at Chulalongkorn University 
  • Mr. Theerachuta Srivaranon, 2nd-year engineering student at Chulalongkorn University 
  • Mr. Supachart Sriharan, Grade 12 student at Chulalongkorn University Demonstration School 
  • The team also included Mr. Kittipoch Saengsai, Product Manager at the Center of Excellence in Digital and Artificial Intelligence Innovation for Mental Health (AIMET) at Chulalongkorn University’s Faculty of Engineering. 

The team was led by Associate Professor Dr. Solaphat Hemrungrojn, Deputy Dean of Innovation Integration and Digital Technology at Chulalongkorn University’s Faculty of Medicine, who served as the team leader and advisor. 

Chula is the place to discover one’s true individuality and the years I spent here were most enjoyable.
