Samui Sigma, Chulalongkorn’s CBS and Economics Students Win 1st Prize at Spark the Local 2024 by PTT 

Chulalongkorn University congratulates students from Chulalongkorn Business School (CBS) and the Faculty of Economics of team Samui Sigma on winning the 1^st Prize at “Spark the Local 2024.”  The project was organized by PTT Public Company Limited to promote the development of potential and added value for Thai community products and create opportunities for young people to showcase their creativity and talent in developing innovations in collaboration with the community.  

Samui Sigma consists of: 

• Mr. Teerawee Jirapakpongsapak from CBS  
• Mr. Punn Sukumpanich from CBS 
• Mr. Petra Kiatkanjanakul from CBS  
• Miss Chalisa Pongsatheerapong form CBS  
• Miss Nathakulya Meepien from the Faculty of Economics  

The Samui Sigma team collaborated with the Samui community enterprise of coconut product processors in Surat Thani Province to create premium coconut milk ice cream made from locally sourced Samui coconuts. They focused on enhancing the naturally sweet and rich flavor of the coconut while developing a modern and appealing presentation to meet the demands of modern consumers and elevate the value of community products. 

The success of the Samui Sigma team is a clear example of the potential and capability of Chulalongkorn University students to apply classroom knowledge to develop innovative community products. It also demonstrates their role in creating sustainable value for local communities and serves as an inspiration for other students to contribute to sustainable social development.
