Alumnus of Chulalongkorn’s Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts Wins First Prize in 45th “Bualuang Painting” Competition 

Chulalongkorn University congratulates Mr. Jesada Kiratisehwe, an alumnus of the Department of Visual Arts, Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts, Chulalongkorn University, on winning the First Prize in the 45^th Bualuang Painting Competition 2024 in the category of Thai Semi-Traditional painting with his artwork titled “The Door Is Closed.” The painting reimagines creativity, concepts, techniques, and narrative that preserve the image and identity of traditional Thai painting into an artwork that aligns with contemporary trends. 

“The Door is Closed” by the Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts alumnus will be on display in the 45^th Bualuang Painting on Tour from now until December 16, 2024, at Chiangrai Contemporary Art Museum, Chiangrai, on Tuesday – Sunday, 09.00 – 18.00 hrs.  

The “Bualuang Painting” Competition, organized by the Bualuang Foundation, has been ongoing since 1974. Recognizing the value and importance of Thai art and culture to promote sustainable Thai cultural heritage, the “Bualuang Painting” Competition is widely acknowledged in the art scene as a prestigious painting competition. Many past winning artists from Bualuang Painting have demonstrated exceptional skills and advanced in their careers, with some achieving the highest honor of being named National Artists.
