Chula Professors and Students Win Gold Medals for Innovation at KIDE 2024 in Taiwan

Chulalongkorn University’s Faculty of Education, the College of Public Health Sciences and students from the Demonstration School of Chulalongkorn University have brought honor to Thailand and Chulalongkorn University by earning gold medals at the prestigious Kaohsiung International Invention and Design EXPO (KIDE 2024). This global innovation contest took place from December 5-7, 2024, at the Kaohsiung Exhibition Center (KEC) in Kaohsiung, Taiwan.

Asst. Prof. Dr. Khanobbhorn Sangvanich of the Faculty of Education, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Pokkate Wongsasuluk of the College of Public Health Sciences, received the Gold Medal from the World Invention Intellectual Property Associations (WIIPA) and a Special Gold Medal from the Indonesian Invention and Innovation Promotion Association. Their winning project, “HAHA: Healthy Aging with Happy Art,” is an innovative set of artistic activities designed to enhance cognitive function by integrating sensory experiences. This approach promotes thinking, perception, decision-making, movement and creativity through diverse art activities. The project aims to create an Aesthetic Experience that promotes personal growth and social well-being, empowering the elderly to live creatively and happily together.
Additionally, Piraya Wongpiwat, Pirada Wongpiwat, Supanut Kulhiran, and Jet Kulhiran students from the Chulalongkorn University Demonstration Elementary School, under the guidance of Mr. Jirasak Chitrojanarak, secured a Gold Medal for their project, WASEN. This innovation converts popcorn waste and used cooking oil from restaurants into bio-coal energy blocks made entirely from 100% natural waste. The project offers four formulas, each providing different heat outputs and burn times, catering to various cooking needs.
These outstanding achievements reflect the ingenuity and creativity of Chulalongkorn’s professors and students, underscoring their dedication to innovation and sustainable development on the global stage.
