Chulalongkorn University Announcement, Featured News, Awards & Honours
Professor Dr. Wilert Puriwat, the President of Chulalongkorn University, has been recognized as “One of the 48 Influential Figures of Trust Thailand 2025” by the Matichon newspaper. He was chosen for his success as an educational leader who has significantly advanced the quality of Thai education, making him the only influential figure in education among the 48.
Professor Dr. Wilert Puriwat has played a key role in shaping Thai education. He has served as President of Chulalongkorn University since May 2024, following his previous role as Dean of the Faculty of Commerce and Accountancy. Under his leadership, the faculty earned international recognition for its excellence in business education, receiving “”The Top Business School” with Triple Crown Accreditation”.
Professor Dr. Wilert is steadfast in his aim to see Chulalongkorn University develop into a world-class institution, making it a leading source of knowledge that can transform lives. This vision includes being a university that serves Thai society, creating a strong sense of community and service among students, and promoting growth in various dimensions. His administration focuses on the “Chula Power of Togetherness,” emphasizing international growth, social impact, and the development of talented individuals both within and outside the university.
The President highlights the fact that the role of universities extends beyond educating students—they must also foster skills, create innovations, and contribute to national development. This includes leveraging digital technology and artificial intelligence (AI) to improve quality of life and elevate Thailand’s standing on the global stage.
In the future, Professor Dr. Wilert plans to position Chulalongkorn University among the top 10 universities globally by forming partnerships with leading universities and international organizations to conduct cutting-edge research.
In addition to his role as President, Professor Dr. Wilert has also been appointed Chairperson of the Council of University Presidents of Thailand (CUPT) since January 1, 2025. He aims to strengthen cooperation among Thai universities to enhance the quality of education in Thailand and attract international students, which will benefit the overall educational landscape.
