Chulalongkorn University hosted the 29th edition of “Chula the Impact” under the theme “Chula-KBTG: AI for the Future” on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at Chula Narumit House. The event featured the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Chulalongkorn University and Kasikorn Business-Technology Group (KBTG), as well as the official launch of “AI LUCA” and “Virtual Patient” systems, co-developed by the two organizations.
This event aimed to showcase the potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in education, with the goal of enhancing teaching and learning processes while fostering student development in the digital age. The focus was particularly on the role of universities and educational institutions in Thailand.
As a pilot initiative, KBTG collaborated with the Faculty of Commerce and Accountancy to develop AI LUCA, an innovative educational tool designed to support academic, professional, and societal activities. Its applications range from exam question generation, research-based question responses, and educational data management to added security features, customized menus for faculty, and support for diverse academic fields. This tool aims to enhance learning efficiency for both students and faculty.
In addition, KBTG partnered with the Faculty of Medicine to develop the Virtual Patient System, a prototype for realistic simulations in medical education. This innovation provides medical students with practical experience and expertise to prepare them for real-world scenarios.
Professor Dr. Wilert Puriwat, President of Chulalongkorn University, expressed his delight in the formal collaboration with KBTG to advance AI technology in education. He emphasized that the jointly developed AI LUCA and Virtual Patient systems mark a promising beginning for this partnership.
“This collaboration aligns with Chulalongkorn University’s strategic vision of ‘Chula Power of Togetherness,’ which aims to create a modern, student-centered learning environment and propel the university toward becoming an ‘AI University’ and the AI Hub of ASEAN,” he stated.
He also highlighted the transformative role of universities in preparing for a future where many professions will be replaced by AI. “The role of universities today extends beyond education to improving the quality of life in the country. Leveraging AI technology is essential to achieving this strategic vision effectively,” he added.
Mr. Ruangroj Poonpol, Chairman of KBTG, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to advancing education in Thailand through innovative solutions. By providing students with access to high-quality learning resources and digital curricula tailored to global trends, KBTG aims to enhance technological capabilities nationwide.
Initiatives such as KBTG Kampus, which develops digital skills for IT professionals, exemplify their efforts. Collaboration with Chulalongkorn University in specialized fields such as medicine and accounting further strengthens educational innovation for public benefit.
Mr. Ruangroj also stressed the importance of Public-Private Partnerships (PPP) in driving educational progress. He underscored the need for equitable access to AI-related education at all levels and the application of AI technology to enhance education inclusivity.
This collaboration reaffirms Chulalongkorn University and KBTG’s leadership in AI education and research, embodying KBTG’s “Human-First x AI-First” philosophy, which seeks to harness the full potential of humans and AI to deliver benefits to customers, society, and the nation.
Chulalongkorn University’s role as a leader in innovation and education is further solidified on both the national and international stage.
