Chula to Plant 58,300 Trees on Campus to Celebrate the Coronation of King Rama X

On Friday, August 9, 2019, Chulalongkorn University celebrated the Coronation of King Rama X with “Chula Loves Earth”, a project to plant trees on campus.  Professor Dr. Bundhit Eua-arporn, President of Chulalongkorn University, presided over the opening ceremony at the hallway of Chamchuri 4 building.  Professor Dr. Boonchai Stitmannaithum, Vice President for Administration, gave a brief report on the project, followed by the presentation of appreciation tokens to project supporters and sponsors.  For this auspicious occasion, the Chula executive board, faculty, staff, and students were brought together to plant 58,300 trees on campus.

The project “Chula Loves Earth” is now in its 10th year and has become one of the major activities to help increase the greenery on the university grounds and the green space for Bangkok.  Ultimately, the added trees have helped to reduce pollution, greenhouse gases, and energy consumption.  The project aims to not only create a pleasant learning environment and workplace, but also sustainably preserve the environment.

Besides planting trees, the event has become a venue to present information about other  related university projects, including Chula Zero Waste, CU Toyota Ha:mo and CU Smart Mobility (Electric Tuk Tuk/ Scooter/ Bike).
