The conference was jointly organized by Chulalongkorn University, the Polar Science Consortium of Thailand (PSCT), and the Polar Research Institute of China (PRIC). Leading scientists from both Thailand and China participated, exchanging insights on polar research, astronomical space technology, marine ecosystems, climate change, and strategies to engage youth in global scientific endeavors.

The event featured high-level representatives from both countries, including :

The conference was a venue for expert lectures and panel discussions involving scientists, environmental scholars, and government representatives. Discussions focused on strengthening scientific cooperation to address the global climate crisis. Topics included joint field research between nations, capacity-building for young researchers, and linking polar research to coastal resource management in Thailand.

The forum also welcomed Maria Poonlertlarp, environmental advocate and former Miss Universe Thailand, known for her role in raising public awareness on environmental and climate change issues. Maria shared her views on the importance of youth and next-generation participation in driving transformative change.

One of the highlights of the event was the presentation of the latest findings from the icebreaker “Xue Long 2”, which had recently completed a research mission in Antarctica. Scientists from PRIC shared results on oceanography, sea ice changes, polar ecosystems, and critical climate indicators showing increasing signs of crisis.

The data collected during this expedition not only contributes to the field of polar science but also provides valuable knowledge for tropical countries like Thailand. This includes issues such as rising sea levels, changing ocean currents, and impacts on marine biodiversity.

By featuring insights directly from experienced field researchers, the conference offered a compelling and inspiring platform that is expected to advance international collaboration in scientific research even further.

The sense of kinship and warmth found in the Chula community is priceless and a treasure worth keeping.
