Chula and CP All Partner to Transform Convenience Stores into “Knowledge Convenience Stores” for Communities

Chulalongkorn University and CP All Public Company Limited signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Friday, May 30, 2025, at Chula Narumit House, Chulalongkorn University. The MOU aims to enhance education and learning in society. Signing on behalf of the organizations were Prof. Dr. Wilert Puriwat, President of Chulalongkorn University, and Mr. Yuthasak Poomsurakul, CEO of CP All Public Company Limited, operator of 7-Eleven and 7-Delivery.

The primary goal of this collaboration is to make knowledge more accessible, practical, and applicable to daily life by transforming “convenience stores” into “knowledge convenience stores.” These stores will serve as modern community learning hubs for people of all ages, utilizing CP All’s retail network as a mechanism to disseminate Chulalongkorn University’s knowledge to the wider public. Topics will include health, the environment, financial literacy, and life skills, shared through accessible media and engaging activities.

Prof. Dr. Wilert emphasized that this project demonstrates Chulalongkorn’s role in bringing academic knowledge to the public, particularly by leveraging commercial spaces as channels for community education. It represents a tangible example of national development through education and sustainable wisdom.

He reiterated the university’s mission to go beyond classroom teaching, promoting proactive learning that reaches communities. The initiative reimagines convenience stores as more than retail outlets — they will offer free access to various online courses, such as product development, marketing, languages, and health care, making them community learning spaces across the country. “The food you buy at a convenience store is gone once eaten, but food for the mind remains with you forever,” he noted.

Additionally, the project includes a plan for Chulalongkorn and CP All to screen and distribute quality-tested products from farmers and youth entrepreneurs. The stores will also serve as real-world workspaces for young people, providing hands-on learning opportunities.

The project is expected to launch between July and August 2025, starting with selected store branches and expanding gradually.

Mr. Yuthasak Poomsurakul, CEO of CP All, added that the company is honored to partner with Chulalongkorn in creating community-based learning spaces. This partnership also provides students opportunities to test and develop innovations in management and services that benefit society — reflecting CP All’s 30-year commitment to developing good and capable individuals through education. He said, “7-Eleven will become more than a store — it will be a real-life learning space that offers both products and wisdom.”

The initiative also involves developing short courses in community-oriented innovation, the use of information media for learning, and modern interactive activities — turning every visit to a 7-Eleven into a lifelong learning opportunity. These stores will seamlessly integrate knowledge with daily life, promoting learning in an accessible and contemporary manner.

Thus, this signing ceremony marks not just the beginning of an academic alliance, but a significant step toward turning “convenience stores” into “knowledge convenience stores” that are accessible to everyone in the community — helping Thai society learn more easily, understand more quickly, and grow together.

The sense of kinship and warmth found in the Chula community is priceless and a treasure worth keeping.
