Chula Hosts the 33rd Asahi Special Seminar on “Advanced Materials and Engineering for Societal Impact” 

The Office of Research Affairs, Chulalongkorn University, recently organized the 33rd Special CU-Asahi Seminar 2025 under the theme “Advanced Materials and Engineering for Societal Impact,” along with the annual presentation of research grants from the Asahi Glass Foundation on June 30, 2025, at Room 105, Maha Chulalongkorn Building. 

The seminar was opened with welcome remarks by Professor Dr. Wilert Puriwat, President of Chulalongkorn University, followed by a report from Professor Dr. Pornanong Aramwit, Vice President. Mr. Takuya Shimamura, President of the Asahi Glass Foundation, Japan, congratulated Chulalongkorn faculty members and researchers during the grant award ceremony for 2025. 

The Chulalongkorn faculty members and researchers who received Asahi Glass Foundation research grants for 2025 are as follows:

On this occasion, there was a special lecture by Professor Dr. Suwabun Chirachanchai from the Petroleum and Petrochemical College, Chulalongkorn University, on “Revisited Starch: A Polymer-Based Approach to Functional Materials.” 

This was followed by research presentations by six grant recipients from the previous year, as follows:

• Asst. Prof. Dr. Chayut Ngamkhanong, Department of Civil Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, on “A Circular Economy Approach to Eco-friendly and Environmentally Recycled Concrete Sleepers”
