Chulalongkorn University has formed an academic partnership with Prince of Songkla University to strengthen collaboration between two of Thailand’s leading higher education institutions. The goal is to promote academic collaboration and knowledge exchange, enhancing both universities’ ability to serve society locally and globally.
The signing ceremony for this academic cooperation agreement took place on October 6, 2025, in Room 111 of the Maha Chulalongkorn Building. The event began with an opening report by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Danupol Hoonsopon, Assistant to the President for Asset Management at Chulalongkorn University, who outlined the background and objectives of the collaboration. Following this, Prof. Dr. Wilert Puriwat, President of Chulalongkorn University, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Niwat Keawpradub, President of Prince of Songkla University, presided over the signing ceremony. Witnesses included Assoc. Prof. Dr. Danupol Hoonsopon and Asst. Prof. Dr. Jumpol Chuenchitsiri, Vice President for Legal Affairs and Academic Services at Prince of Songkla University.
On this occasion, Prof. Dr. Wilert Puriwat delivered the opening address for the signing ceremony, while Asst. Prof. Dr. Niwat Keawpradub spoke about the significance of this academic cooperation agreement.
Prof. Dr. Wilert Puriwat emphasized that the mission of both Chulalongkorn University and Prince of Songkla University extends beyond traditional degree programs. They also offer non-degree short courses that allow individuals beyond the student body to engage in learning and contribute to improving the quality of education within the wider community. This collaboration bridges knowledge between Bangkok and the southern region of Thailand, focusing on non-degree programs available both online and offline.
Asst. Prof. Dr. Niwat Keawpradub stated that this partnership leverages Chulalongkorn’s academic expertise, extending its impact to southern Thailand. Chulalongkorn serves as a key knowledge hub with expert faculty, and this initiative provides educational opportunities across the five campuses of Prince of Songkla University. The non-degree courses aim to foster career development, expand learning opportunities, and strengthen academic networks.
Both universities recognize the importance of fostering academic collaboration, research, and innovation to raise the standard of education and make meaningful contributions to society. The objectives of this partnership include promoting knowledge exchange, developing curricula, conducting joint research, and building academic and professional networks nationally and internationally. The collaboration focuses on the effective use of shared resources and infrastructure to enhance the development of both personnel and students in all aspects.
Furthermore, the partnership aligns with both universities’ missions as leading institutions of higher learning that drive positive change for the nation—especially in education, public health, and community development—which are foundational pillars for sustainable development.
This agreement reflects the shared commitment of Chulalongkorn University and Prince of Songkla University to national development through the creation and dissemination of knowledge and the promotion of academic services that benefit society and the country as a whole.
