CBS Invites You to Attend CBS Frontiers in Research Series Lecture

The Faculty of Commerce and Accountancy, Chulalongkorn University (Chulalongkorn Business School or CBS), cordially invites faculty members, researchers, students, and interested public to attend a lecture from the CBS Frontiers in Research Series on the topic: “Managerial Overrides and Algorithmic Decision-Making: A Causal Machine Learning Framework”

  • Date: Tuesday, October 28, 2025
  • Time: 12:00–13:00
  • Venue: Faculty of Commerce and Accountancy, Chulalongkorn University
  • Speaker: Prof. Howard Hao-Chun Chuang, Professor of Operations Management, National Chengchi University, Taiwan

This lecture caters to researchers, Ph.D. students, and practitioners in operations, analytics, or empirical causal inference. Attendees will gain insights into:

  • A causal inference framework using Double Machine Learning (DML) to isolate the effects of human intervention in semi-automated systems
  • How DML incorporates both confounders and moderators, allowing for accurate and efficient causal inference with minimal statistical assumptions
  • Real-world application via a case study of a global retailer’s inventory management systems where managers can override algorithmic replenishment recommendations.

The event is free of charge.
