Chairman of the Chulalongkorn University Council Opens Exclusive Dinner Talk on “Adaptation and Transformation in the Age of AI”

Professor Dr. Surakiart Sathirathai, Chairman of the Chulalongkorn University Council, presided over and delivered the opening remarks at the Exclusive Dinner Talk Thailand Vision: “AI — Ultimate Opportunity or Opponent” on the topic “Adaptation and Transformation in the Age of AI.” The event was held on October 20, 2025, at the Hilton Bangkok Grande Asoke Hotel to celebrate the 9th anniversary of The Momentum.

Professor Dr. Surakiart expressed his appreciation to The Momentum’s executives and team for their continuous efforts in driving forward-thinking perspectives, inspiring society to ask meaningful questions, creating valuable dialogues, and pursuing new answers throughout the past nine years.

He remarked that the world is now facing one of the greatest transformations of the modern era — the rise of Artificial Intelligence (AI). AI has become a powerful accelerator of productivity and innovation, evolving from a mere analytical tool to a creative and operational force through Generative AI technology. This technology enables the creation of new content and dramatically enhances work efficiency. AI, he emphasized, will generate immense economic value that businesses cannot afford to overlook.

According to the World Economic Forum 2025 Report, 40% of current job skills will change within the next five years. At the same time, over 75% of organizations worldwide are investing in AI systems to enhance productivity and decision-making. Research from UNESCO and Goldman Sachs also indicate that AI could contribute over USD 15 trillion in additional economic value by 2030 — more than the combined current economies of China and India.

In Thailand, over 58% of Thais already use AI in their daily lives — from video editing and communication tools to data analysis. Moreover, over 80% of younger generations, both Gen Y and Gen Z, believe that AI will create more career opportunities rather than take away jobs. Looking ahead, the world is not only undergoing geopolitical and economic changes but is also being reshaped by AI as a key disruptive force that brings unprecedented opportunities across all industries.

Professor Dr. Surakiart posed crucial questions: How can we adapt to harness the power of AI to enhance our competitiveness? How can organizations transform their structures and cultures to ensure that people are ready for the waves of technological disruption? And how can we strike a balance between humans and machines?

“Today’s discussion marks the beginning of building a knowledge-sharing and collaborative network that will enable organizations and Thailand to overcome challenges and seize the golden opportunities of the AI era effectively and sustainably,” the Chairman of the University Council concluded.

Chula’s encouragement and support for research is excellent for teachers, students, and the public.
