Chula’s Very Own Banlung Tubtimdang, Wins Gold at the 2025 World Taekwondo Championships in the 68 kg Category

Chulalongkorn University proudly extends its heartfelt congratulations to Banlung Tubtimdang, a student from the Faculty of Communication Arts and a member of Thailand’s national taekwondo team, for winning the gold medal in the 68 kg category at the Wuxi 2025 World Taekwondo Championships held in Wuxi, People’s Republic of China, on October 28, 2025.

In the final round, Banlung Tubtimdang faced Yoo Hyeon-seong from South Korea. He took the lead early in the match, winning the first round 10–5 and the second round 7–1, securing Thailand’s first gold medal at this year’s World Championships.

This victory marks Thailand’s seventh world championship title in taekwondo, with Banlung Tubtimdang becoming the country’s sixth world champion—and only the second male athlete, after Pol. Lt. Chatchawal Khawlaor, to achieve this honor.

Banlung Tubtimdang received a 1.5 million baht reward from the National Sports Development Fund for his achievement. Previously, he had won titles at the World University Games, Asian Games, and a silver medal at the 2023 World Championships.

He expressed his joy at winning the gold medal, saying that this achievement serves as motivation for his next goal—the Southeast Asian (SEA) Games at the end of this year.
