Equal Hearts United: Chula and Partners Honor Her Majesty the Queen Mother at Siam Square

Chulalongkorn University, in collaboration with the Property Management Office of Chulalongkorn University (PMCU), Advanced Info Service (AIS), and Channel 7HD, organized the event “Siam Pays Tribute with Equal Hearts” at AIS SIAM to honor and commemorate Her Majesty Queen Sirikit the Queen Mother. Coinciding with National Disability Day, the event reflects the shared commitment to driving an inclusive society and reinforces Siam Square’s role as a model public space where everyone can proudly express their condolences.

The public—including persons with disabilities—was invited to write messages of condolence for Her Majesty the Queen Mother. Persons with disabilities were able to express their tributes through the use of Braille, and the messages were displayed on the central screen at Siam Square, allowing the AIS SIAM screen to join in this collective expression of remembrance. The ceremony featured a performance of the song “Mother of the Land” by the Thailand Blind Orchestra, symbolizing the unified commitment of all sectors to uphold Her Majesty’s legacy in doing good for Thai society.

Presiding over the ceremony was Ms. Supamas Isarabhakdi, Minister attached to the Prime Minister’s Office. Attendees included Prof. Dr. Wilert Puriwat, President of Chulalongkorn University; Mr. Prathana Leelapanang, Chief Executive Officer of Advanced Info Service (AIS); and Mr. Pattanapong Nuphan, Managing Director of Channel 7HD, who came together to open the space for persons with disabilities to express their condolences.  

Ms. Supamas Isarabhakdi, Minister attached to the Prime Minister’s Office, noted that “Through the collaboration of the public, private, and academic sectors, today’s event, ‘Siam Pays Tribute with Equal Hearts,’ creates a meaningful space for the public—including persons with disabilities—to join in expressing their deep respect and gratitude to Her Majesty Queen Sirikit the Queen Mother, whose compassion and dedication have greatly inspired the improvement of quality of life for all Thais. Her unwavering kindness toward persons with disabilities, granting them dignity and opportunity, has long been a guiding light. This event reflects the true power of cooperation in Thai society, aimed at fostering equality, understanding, and sustainable coexistence. We hope this initiative marks another important step toward creating a society that leaves no one behind, in line with the government’s vision to ensure real opportunities and better quality of life for persons with disabilities.”

Prof. Dr. Wilert Puriwat, President of Chulalongkorn University, acknowledged that: “Chulalongkorn University is honored to collaborate with PMCU, AIS, and Channel 7HD in organizing ‘Siam Pays Tribute with Equal Hearts.’ This event allows both the public and persons with disabilities to join in honoring the extraordinary benevolence of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit the Queen Mother, who has been a model of devotion to the well-being of the people and an inspiration to all Thais to do good for the greater benefit of society. This initiative aligns with Chula’s commitment to fostering a society that ‘leaves no one behind,’ especially in promoting educational opportunities, access to public spaces, and inclusive environments. It reflects the CHULA FOR ALL vision, which positions Siam Square as a model open public space where everyone can proudly participate physically, emotionally, and socially. We remain dedicated to working with partners to continue Her Majesty’s legacy toward a beautiful and sustainable Thai society.”

Mr. Prathana Leelapanang, CEO of AIS, said, “AIS humbly pays tribute to Her Majesty’s immeasurable royal grace and is deeply honored to join all sectors in opening AIS SIAM for all Thais—including persons with disabilities—to express their heartfelt remembrance of Her Majesty the Queen Mother. Her Majesty has inspired acts of goodness for society and championed human dignity and equality. As a Thai technology organization, AIS believes that equality begins with designing for everyone—whether through spaces, services, communication, or access to information. We are committed to developing inclusive design concepts so that persons with disabilities and all members of society can participate proudly and equitably. We will continue collaborating with partners to uphold Her Majesty’s legacy and help build a beautiful and sustainable Thai society.”

Mr. Pattanapong Nuphan, Managing Director of Channel 7HD, added that the objective of the event centers on equality and providing opportunities for persons with disabilities, who also showcased their musical talents at the event—an inspiring and commendable highlight. 

Equal Hearts United: Chula and Partners Honor Her Majesty the Queen Mother at Siam Square 

The “Siam Pays Tribute with Equal Hearts” event, held in front of the AIS SIAM building and along SIAM Walking Street, featured various activities, including: 

  • A Thai musical performance by the Faculty of Education, Chulalongkorn University 
  • A special Braille-based condolence activity for persons with disabilities, with messages displayed on the central Siam screen 
  • A musical performance of “Mother of the Land” by the Thailand Blind Orchestra 

These activities reflect the power of loyalty and collective cooperation in building a more inclusive society. 

All organizers expressed their deepest gratitude for Her Majesty’s boundless benevolence and reaffirmed their commitment to continuing Her Majesty’s royal aspirations—creating opportunities and improving the quality of life for persons with disabilities, toward a Thai society defined by equality and dignified coexistence. 

Chula’s encouragement and support for research is excellent for teachers, students, and the public.
