Ho Chi Minh City, Dec. 3–4, 2025 — The Association of Southeast Asian Institutions of Higher Learning (ASAIHL) commenced its 2025 conference in the vibrant, culturally rich city of Ho Chi Minh, gathering educators and academic leaders from across the region.
Prof. Dr. Wilert Puriwat, President of Chulalongkorn University and President of ASAIHL welcomed delegates and highlighted this year’s theme, “Learning by Doing: Experiential Learning in International Education.” He emphasized that in an era where information is everywhere, but true wisdom is rare, the ability to apply knowledge is what sets our students apart. We are moving beyond traditional classrooms into a world where experience is the best teacher. As educators, our challenge is no longer just what we teach, but how we empower the next generation to learn through action, engagement, and reflection.
The conference explored how experiential learning intersects with some of today’s most pressing global issues, including artificial intelligence, digital transformation, and global citizenship. Its main objective was to help institutions better prepare students for rapidly changing global landscapes.
The President also underscored ASAIHL’s longstanding role as a connector among higher-education institutions across Southeast Asia. “ASAIHL has always been a bridge across borders,” he remarked. “Today, that bridge is built not just on shared interests, but on shared experiences.”
