The Faculty of Architecture, Chulalongkorn University, participated in the 20th Anniversary Celebration of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) under the theme “ADB TRM 20th Anniversary: From Partnership to Impact—A Prosperous and Sustainable Thailand” on December 4, 2025, at the ADB Thailand Resident Mission (ADB TRM) office in Bangkok. The event highlighted the long-standing collaboration between the Faculty and ADB in advancing sustainable urban development through joint projects and key cooperative activities carried out over the years.
At the event, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sutee Anantsuksomsri, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Architecture, represented the faculty and delivered the remarks during the session “Celebrating ADB’s Achievements and Momentum.” This important platform brought together representatives from the public and private sectors, academia, development organizations, and various partners to exchange perspectives on sustainable development and reflect on ADB’s role in driving Thailand’s economic, social, and environmental progress over the past two decades.
One of the event’s key highlights was the presentation of the Urban Water Capacity Building Development Program, aimed at promoting knowledge sharing and serving as a platform for policy dialogue among local leaders, urban developers, urban planners, and experts. The program seeks to build networks, strengthen cooperation, and enhance preparedness for addressing future water management challenges—one of Thailand’s most pressing issues.
As Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sutee Anantsuksomsri stated “Cities around the world, including those in Thailand, are facing increasingly severe challenges from climate risks—such as flooding, heat waves, and pollution, particularly air pollution. The Urban Water Capacity Building Development Program plays an important role in bringing together local leaders, urban planners, and experts to exchange knowledge and jointly develop practical approaches and measures. We have been discussing this project for several months and hope to conduct workshops in multiple cities and regions across Thailand. The goal is to strengthen collaboration among national government officials, local agencies, the private sector, and academic institutions to develop innovative policies and action plans, creating healthier and more sustainable cities for future generations.”
Participation in this event demonstrates the Faculty of Architecture’s commitment to continuing its collaboration with ADB to advance sustainable urban development and create broader positive societal impacts in the future. Over the past several months, both parties have continued to develop this project, and preparations are now underway to expand it into workshops across multiple regions of Thailand to enhance cooperation and drive concrete, practical change.
