Chulalongkorn University is partnering with the UCLA School of Theater, Film & Television (UCLA TFT) on the new “UCLA TFT–CU” project, which brings world-class professional training to Thailand. Through short-term vocational courses, the partnership aims to elevate the skills of Thai creators and media professionals to meet Hollywood standards, while strengthening Thailand’s position as an emerging digital content hub in Asia.

Prof. Dr. Wilert Puriwat, President of Chulalongkorn University, discussed the “UCLA TFT–CU” collaboration with Prof. Fabian Wagmister, Chair, Department of Film, Television and Digital Media, UCLA School of Theater, Film, Television and Digital Media (UCLA TFT), during the “VISION to SCREEN: HOLLYWOOD EDITION – Advancing Thai Media with World-Class Professional Training” event on December 11, 2025, at The Ritz-Carlton Bangkok. The event was presided over by Ms. Suphajee Suthumpun, Minister of Commerce of Thailand.

The “UCLA TFT–CU” project aims to expand academic collaboration between the two institutions through programs in film production, digital content, performing arts, and the business of media and entertainment. This partnership strengthens Chulalongkorn University’s role as a regional center for academic excellence and innovation in the creative industries, while preparing students and industry professionals for opportunities on the global stage. It marks a significant step in elevating Thailand’s film and digital media ecosystem.

In addition to advancing creative talent, the collaboration is expected to generate wide-ranging cultural and economic benefits—from developing highly skilled jobs to boosting tourism, trade, investment, and the growing digital content economy.

Chulalongkorn University reaffirms its commitment to global collaboration and to driving Thailand’s creative industries forward through innovation, expertise, and international partnerships.

Chula’s encouragement and support for research is excellent for teachers, students, and the public.
