Chulalongkorn University has reaffirmed its role as a leading university in Southeast Asia and the No. 1 university in Thailand, according to the globally recognized Times Higher Education World University Rankings by Subject 2026, officially announced on January 21, 2026.
Chulalongkorn University stands out in the ASEAN region, reflecting its position as a center of knowledge, graduate production, and internationally recognized research. The university ranked Top 10 in ASEAN in six subject groups, as follows:

In terms of the overall scores across subject groups, Chulalongkorn University’s scores in 2026 increased in several fields, particularly Life Sciences, Medical & Health, and Physical Sciences. As a result, these subject groups achieved higher global rankings compared to 2025, demonstrating continuous progress in teaching, research environment, and internationally recognized research quality.
The THE World University Rankings by Subject 2026 are based on five performance indicators: Teaching, Research Environment, Research Quality, Industry Collaboration, and International Outlook.
These ranking results reflect Chulalongkorn University’s strong commitment to comprehensively enhancing the quality of education and research, reinforcing its role as Thailand’s leading university and an academic leader in the ASEAN region.
