Chulalongkorn University, in collaboration with the Thailand Board of Investment (BOI), announced a partnership to open opportunities for donations to the Ratchadaphiseksomphot Endowment Fund of Chulalongkorn University under BOI investment promotion. The initiative aims to develop and further extend research and innovation outcomes. The announcement was made on February 6, 2026, at the CSII Networking Lounge, 1st Floor, Chamchuri 10 Building.
Professor Dr. Wilert Puriwat, President of Chulalongkorn University, stated, “Chulalongkorn University plays a key role in nurturing innovators to drive innovation development. Supporting research funding through the Ratchadaphiseksomphot Endowment Fund will help propel research outcomes from laboratories to the market, increase economic value, expand applications in the industrial sector, and generate sustainable benefits for society. Chulalongkorn University would like to express its gratitude to the Board of Investment (BOI) and partners from all sectors for jointly advancing the nation’s efforts for research and innovation. We sincerely hope that this collaboration will lead to tangible success, strengthen economic and social value, and further Thailand’s long-term vision on the global stage.”
Professor Dr. Pornanong Aramwit, Vice President of Chulalongkorn University, spoke about the Ratchadaphiseksomphot Endowment Fund, the university’s principal research fund and a key mechanism for promoting research, supporting research awards, and developing inventions that generate positive national impact. The fund is overseen by a management committee comprising experts from diverse fields, responsible for setting directions and managing the fund efficiently, transparently, and in alignment with the university’s strategic goals. Promotion by the BOI will help create new opportunities for collaboration between academic institutions and the business sector to develop deep-tech innovations and technologies that can be sustainably commercialized for both economic and social benefit.
Mr. Narit Therdsteerasukdi, Secretary General of the Board of Investment, stated, “This collaboration represents a significant opportunity to drive the nation’s research and innovation development through integrated cooperation among the public sector, private sector, and academic institutions. The Ratchadaphiseksomphot Endowment Fund of Chulalongkorn University serves as one of the key mechanisms to steer research toward enhancing Thailand’s industrial upgrading and ensuring practical applications in both industrial and social dimensions.”
The Board of Investment (BOI) plays a vital role in shaping the country’s investment direction by using incentives to attract high-quality investments that generate long-term economic benefits. The focus is not solely on the monetary value of investment but also on technological and innovation development through continuous support for research and development—both in projects conducted directly by enterprises and through co-support of funds approved by the BOI Board. In this regard, the Ratchadaphiseksomphot Endowment Fund of Chulalongkorn University will play a crucial role in creating new knowledge and technologies and pushing them toward concrete commercial utilization, thereby sustainably enhancing national competitiveness.
Fund supporters will also receive additional benefits under the Competitiveness Enhancement Measures, including a corporate income tax exemption equivalent to twice the amount of expenses contributed to the Ratchadaphiseksomphot Endowment Fund, as well as an extension of the corporate income tax exemption period by an additional 1–5 years.
In addition, the event featured an exhibition showcasing research and innovation projects ready for commercialization, including: a prebiotic beverage made from community-produced fresh palm sugar by Professor Dr. Supa-art Sirikantaramas (Faculty of Science); a mushroom-based rice seasoning powder developed as a functional food for children and plant-based consumers by Dr. Piroonporn Srimongkol (Institute of Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering); ventilated brick blocks made from mussel shell waste by Assistant Professor Dr. Runda Aduldejcharas (Faculty of Architecture); and EcoSphere Lab, a medical waste management system based on circular economy principles, by Dr. Saran Keeratihattayakorn (Faculty of Engineering).
