Chula Town Hall 2026 Celebrates Milestones and Outstanding Staff 

The Office of Human Resources of Chulalongkorn University organized the event “Chula Town Hall 2026: February 13 – The President Shares Appreciation with the Chula Community” on February 13, 2026, at Sala Phra Kieo. Prof. Dr. Wilert Puriwat, President of Chulalongkorn University, delivered the opening remarks to foster mutual understanding among the Chula community regarding the University’s goals and direction under its Internal Growth strategy to drive Chulalongkorn University forward. The event also featured the presentation of the “Chula Outstanding Staff” awards to honor outstanding operational staff members whose exemplary performance brings pride to the University.

The event included a variety of activities for Chula staff to enjoy and to strengthen relationships, such as a message board for expressing feelings about the University, a creative photo booth, food booths, and numerous prize presentations. Faculty and staff from various faculties, offices, and institutes attended in large numbers, filling Sala Phra Kieo with an atmosphere of joy, appreciation, and camaraderie.

Prof. Dr. Wilert Puriwat stated that Chulalongkorn University has long served the public and society in all dimensions under the strategy “Chula: Comprehensive Growth with Students at the Center,” which this year has evolved into “Chula: Boundless Growth with the People at the Center.” He also highlighted 10 milestones of achievement over the past year as the University advances into its 109th year—demonstrating progress in step with society, driven by administrators, faculty members, and staff. These include:

  • Strengthening intellectual ties between two kingdoms toward a sustainable global future, as the University welcomed Their Majesties the King and Queen of the Kingdom of Bhutan, who graciously received honorary doctoral degrees. 
  • Announcing a significant step toward becoming a university for the people through the establishment of Chula XL, a lifelong learning college for the public. 
  • Ranking in the Top 10 in ASEAN and No. 1 in Thailand in the QS World University Rankings 2026. 
  • Achieving Top 44 globally and maintaining its position as Thailand’s leading university in sustainability in the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings 2025. 
  • The first in Asia: Chulalongkorn University President elected as President of ASAIHL and President of the ASEM LLL Hub, reinforcing Thailand’s educational leadership on the global stage and strengthening Asia–Europe cooperation in lifelong learning. 
  • Showcasing Thai cultural power globally through the ChulaThaiYO ensemble, promoting cross-cultural friendship through Thai music and dance. 
  • For the first time, transforming Siam Square into an inclusive space for everyone, integrating health, legal services, and community empowerment. 
  • Launching the Chula–MIT LGO program in collaboration with MIT, integrating engineering and management to develop leaders for the future economy. 
  • Introducing ChulaGENIE, a world-class generative AI platform. 
  • Chula students achieving global recognition in academics, innovation, arts, and sports. 

The President added that the University’s direction is expanding toward “Sustainable Growth with Chula Personnel at the Center,” emphasizing that staff members are at the heart of driving the organization sustainably. 

Prof. Dr. Wilert Puriwat then presided over the presentation ceremony of the “Chula Outstanding Staff” awards, recognizing operational staff whose performance is evident, dedicated, selfless, exemplary, and beneficial to the University. Prof. Dr. Kanaphon Chanhom, Vice President, delivered the report stating that this year, the awards were presented to 27 individuals and 6 outstanding staff groups.

The “Chula Outstanding Staff” awards (individual category) recognize operational personnel across various levels, including mid-level administrators, junior administrators, researchers, professional staff with more than three years of service, staff with one to three years of service, personnel in positions below the bachelor’s degree level, and service staff. 

In addition, Outstanding Staff Group Awards were presented in small, medium, and large group categories. These included initiatives such as wellness promotion projects for students and staff, sports development programs, an online academic position application system, etiquette development programs, retirement preparation programs, and the large-scale Chula Health Fair under the Chula Preventive Health Care project—collaboratively organized by 14 University units. 

“Chula Town Hall 2026” received an overwhelmingly positive response from participants, who praised the University for organizing an event that fostered happiness, unity, and inspiration within the Chula community. 

The sense of kinship and warmth found in the Chula community is priceless and a treasure worth keeping.
