Chula Deepens Academic Ties with HKUST, Signs Key Agreements 

Professor Dr. Wilert Puriwat, President of Chulalongkorn University, together with the university’s executive team, attended a leadership meeting with Professor Nancy Ip, President of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), on February 23, 2026, at the Council Chamber, 7th Floor, HKUST. Also present at the meeting were Professor Dr. Parichart Sthapitanonda, Vice President; Professor Dr. Pornanong Aramwit, Vice President; and Associate Professor Dr. Palanee Ammaranond, Vice President.

The discussion focused on elevating collaboration between the two institutions and exploring opportunities to expand cooperation in student exchange, joint research, innovation-driven education, and the development of interdisciplinary academic programs. Both sides also exchanged views on collaboration frameworks and long-term support mechanisms to strengthen sustainable academic partnerships. 

Following the meeting, Professor Dr. Wilert Puriwat, President of Chulalongkorn University, and Professor Nancy Ip, President of HKUST, signed a student exchange agreement, marking a significant milestone in promoting academic mobility and enhancing international learning experiences. 

In addition, an academic cooperation agreement was signed between the School of Integrated Innovation at Chulalongkorn University and the HKUST School of Business and Management. The agreement was signed by Prof. Dr. Suchada Sukrong, Director of the School of Integrated Innovation, Chulalongkorn University, and Professor Frederik Anseel, Dean of the HKUST School of Business and Management, with the presidents of both universities serving as witnesses. This reflects a shared commitment to advancing interdisciplinary collaboration in business, innovation, and related fields.

The Chulalongkorn University executive delegation also toured various facilities at HKUST and participated in breakout meetings between faculties, colleges, and institutes of Chulalongkorn University and their counterparts at HKUST to discuss further opportunities for expanding academic and research collaboration in the future. 

This leadership meeting, along with the signing of agreements and partnership discussions, reaffirms the strong ties between Chulalongkorn University and HKUST and underscores their shared commitment to continuously advancing international academic collaboration. 

The sense of kinship and warmth found in the Chula community is priceless and a treasure worth keeping.
