Chula Professor Receives Outstanding Science Teacher Award (Higher Education) 2020

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Suchana Chavanich, Department of Marine Science, Faculty of Science, Chulalongkorn University, received the Outstanding Teacher Award 2020 (Higher Education) from the Science Society of Thailand under the Royal Patronage at the 46th International Conference on Science, Technology and Technological Innovation in Bangkok on 5 October 2020She was awarded the Royal Plague by Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn.

The Outstanding Science Teacher Award is an honorary recognition of science teachers whose outstanding work has benefited the nation’s young generation and Thai education as a whole.  Assoc. Prof. Dr. Suchana Chavanich is the first Thai female scientist to conduct Antarctic research on the effects of climate change on organisms and the environment.  She is also one of the Thai scientists who successfully developed techniques to mass culture corals, using sexual propagation, to restore the coral reefs in Thailand.  Besides teaching at the Department of Marine Science, Faculty of Science, Chulalongkorn University, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Suchana also serves as a special lecturer, special guest speaker, academic consultant, and author of academic articles on marine conservation.  She has received multiple prestigious accolades for her work in marine ecological research and conservation of marine natural resources.
