Chula Joins 15 Academic Institutions and the Thai Network for Disaster Resilience (TDNR) in Disaster Prevention Efforts

November 26, 2020 – Prof. Bundhit Eua-arporn, Chulalongkorn University President welcomed representatives from 15 academic institutions nationwide to the MOU signing ceremony for cooperation with the Thai Network for Disaster Resilience (TNDR) under the patronage of Thai Disaster Preparedness Foundation (TDPF), with Mr. Niphon Boonyamanee, Deputy Interior Minister presiding.

All participating institutions and agencies will cooperate in the area of disaster risk reduction through research support and promotion, exchange of personnel, educational development, and training courses linking the government and private sectors with the community.  Joining TNDR are 15 academic institutions including Chulalongkorn University, Kasetsart University, Khon Kaen University, Chiang Mai University, Thammasat University, Navamindradhiraj University, Burapha University, Mahasarakham University, Mahidol University Kanchanaburi Campus, Valaya Alongkorn Rajabhat University, Walailak University,  Prince of Songkla University,  Chulabhorn Royal Academy, and King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang.Also on the agenda was a seminar on “Preparedness for Sea-Level Rise“.  The panel included Mr.Montri Luengingkasoot, Deputy Director-General, Department of Mineral Resources and Secretary-General of the Geological Society of Thailand; Dr.Anond Snidvongs Na Ayudhya, Climate Change expert; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sucharit Koontanakulvong, Department of Water Resources Engineering, Chulalongkorn University; and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Suttisak Soralump, Department of Civil Engineering and Geotechnical Research and Development Center, Kasetsart University. The seminar was moderated by Dr. Phichit Rattakul, TDNR Chairman. Also on display were academic exhibitions on disaster research in Thailand by participating universities and related agencies.
