Assoc. Prof. Dr. Wisanu Subsompon gave a special lecture on the development of “Samyan Smart City” on Chulalongkorn University’s land. With a human-centric philosophy in mind, the city design applies technology in meeting human needs and solving their problems, while utilizing smart-environment elements, i.e. smart mobility, smart energy, smart living, smart economy, and smart governance. SAMYAN Smart City’s vision is to create value for the community and society by enhancing people’s quality of life while promoting smart businesses.
Chulalongkorn University has therefore developed an innovation-centric ecosystem consisting of a co-working space hub, CU Innovation Hub, Siam Innovation District (SID), Block 28 Startup Village, and Sandbox in support of startup businesses. This promotes business cooperation and a “Living Lab” for digital startups to test their products and develop their businesses while offering services to the community on new platforms, namely Muvmi (EV Tuk-Tuk Sharing), HAUP Car (Car-Sharing), LEAF (EV scooter sharing), EVolt (EV Charing), EVT (EV Shuttle Bus), Banpu (Solar Rooftop), Meticuly (titanium bone products, Start Dee (Ed. Tech), etc. New and popular businesses such as EVEANDBOY, Ohkajhu Organic Restaurant, SOS, Nice to Meat You, etc. are also given an opportunity to grow here. The Samyan Smart City stimulates a circular economy for a more efficient use of resources and sustainable economy as well.
