M.A. in International Development Studies Call for Applications 2022

The M.A. in International Development Studies program (MAIDS), Faculty of Political Science, Chulalongkorn University is accepting applications from now until Saturday, 30 April 2022. (Scholarship available)

MAIDS is one of the first programs in Southeast Asia to offer multidisciplinary training in international development. MAIDS provides excellent preparation for a career in public or private sector development, or further study at the doctorate level. The core and elective courses, taught in English, address a wide range of topics, including development theory and practice; globalization; research methods; politics of public policy; migration; human rights; environmental politics; conflict resolution; project management; and innovation for inclusive development. The thesis project allows each student to pursue their personal interests.

General Application Requirements for MAIDS

  1. Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline (preferably in the Social Sciences, GPA requirements differ per application track)
  2.  Experience in working or volunteering in the field of International Development is an advantage but not compulsory.
  3.  Proof of English proficiency for non-native English-speaking applicants (a minimum test score of TOEFL IBT 78, IELTS 6.0 or CU-TEP 75 within the last 2 years. MAIDS Double Degree program requires different score)
  4. Other particular qualifications as announced by the Graduate School in each academic year, or approved by the MAIDS Program Committee.

Documentation Requirements for MAIDS
After they have completed the application process on the Graduate School’s website, applicants must save the application in pdf format, and submit the following documents to application.maids@gmail.com.

  1. A completed application form from the Graduate School’s Website
  2.  A copy of valid passport with your signature
  3.  Academic documents: A copy of your degree, transcript, and English test report (if not exempted)
  4. Passport photo
  5. Statement of Purpose (not exceeding 1,000 words)
  6. Completed scholarship application (if applicable)
  7. An application fee payment slip of THB 800
  8. Two recommendation letters (at least 1 from an academic staff)
  9. CV (optional)

Application Process

  1. Submit an online application on the program’s website (See links below).
  2. Pay the application fee.
  3. Send the copy of the online application along with the required documents to application.maids@gmail.com before the deadline.

    A two-year joint program by Chulalongkorn University and Sophia University, Japan. Students will be studying in each university for one year.
