The Faculty of Veterinary Science, Chulalongkorn University’s Small Animal Hospital together with Samet resort group and Phe Subdistrict administrative organization, Rayong Province initiated a socially responsible campaign for stray dogs on Samet Island during 18-20th April 2022.
The campaign included an animal birth control program, vaccinations, deworming and external parasite prevention as well as health consultation at the Phe Subdistrict administrative organization station. In the campaign, a total of 72 animals with 18 male and 5 female dogs, 14 male and 35 female cats were subjected to castration and ovariohysterectomy for animal population control in the Samet community. The vaccination program; with a total of 108 doses, were also administrated to these animals in order to control the problem of Rabies as well as to prevent the transmission of this zoonosis to humans. According to the animal welfare protocol, the post-operative care i.e. analgesic and antibiotic injection and surgical wound dressing were also given to the neutered animals.
This campaign was established as part of the Faculty of Veterinary Science’s social responsibilities mission to emphasize on the importance of animal welfare as well as to promote better health interconnection between animals, human and environment in Thailand.

The sense of kinship and warmth found in the Chula community is priceless and a treasure worth keeping.
