Let’s Start a New Semester with Chula One-Two-Three, a Simple Guideline for Dealing with COVID-19

Chula 1-2-3 news cover

Although the number of infected people has decreased, the COVID-19 situation remains unreliable. Everyone must still be cautious and follow the preventive measures in order to protect themselves and those around them from the pandemic. Chulalongkorn University encourages both students and staff to deal with COVID-19 in these three simple ways:

Eat

  1. Don’t talk while you eat food.
  2. Eat and talk only when wearing a mask.
  3. Dispose of trash, including food waste, in designated areas.

In closed/confined spaces (especially in the elevator)

  1. Wear a face mask
  2. Don’t talk
  3. Don’t eat or drink

If the ATK test result is positive …

  1. Send a photo of the ATK test result together with your student ID card and the date of detection to the section head or the Student Affairs division of the faculty.
  2. Self-isolate for 7 days (WFH or study online classes*) after that avoid spreading the infection for the next 3 days (on-site study or work is permitted). The date of your positive test is counted as the first day.
  3. Monitor the symptoms according to Guidelines for Those Who Have Tested Positive for COVID-19

*If you need a medical certificate, contact the Chulalongkorn University Health Service Center or hospitals linked to your available healthcare and social security benefits.

Am I at risk if I have been in close contact with a COVID-19 patient?

  1. You will be considered at high risk if you have been in a closed space with an infected person with both sides not wearing a face mask for longer than 10 minutes. The risk increases if you have engaged in a conversation at a distance of more than 1.5 meters for over 5 minutes.
  2. When you become aware that you are at high risk, start eating and sleeping in a separate area, and take an ATK test on the date you become aware of the situation and again on the fifth day after being in close contact.
  3. If both parties wear a face mask all the time, they are considered to be at “very low risk”.

During the quarantine period

  1. Strictly quarantine.
  2. If absolutely necessary, you can go out to buy things or to take a COVID-19 test. However, take extra caution to not spread the infection.
  3. You still need to wear a face mask after 7 days of quarantine and be cautious about spreading the infection for the next 3 days.

In class

  1. Always wear a face mask.
  2. Maintain adequate social distancing and wash your hands frequently.
  3. Follow the Faculty’s COVID-19 prevention measures.

Chula is the place to discover one’s true individuality and the years I spent here were most enjoyable.
