Chulalongkorn University cordially invites everyone to the “Night at the Museum 2022” event, which will feature science learning museums themed “The NOCTURNAL” on December 16, 2022, from 16.00-22.00 hrs. and December, 17-18, 2022 from 12.00- 22.00 hrs.
The ‘Night at the Museum’ exhibition, which started in 2016, is a collaboration between the Faculty of Science Museum, Museum Siam, the National Discovery Museum Institute (NDMI)” according to Asst. Prof. Dr. Wichet Konsue, lecturer of the Department of Science’s Department of Biology. This year’s event will mark its return after a two-year break due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Four scientific museums are open to all interested visitors including
and the penguin and seal display.
Aside from the museums, the event includes DIY activities such as black and white picture paper, mini-terrariums, and mini-herbarium specimens, as well as outdoor events such as music performances, souvenir sales, and booths for participating in activities to win various prizes.
Asst. Prof. Dr. Wichet added that the highlight of Chulalongkorn University’s museum is the nature of what is on exhibit and already employed in each department’s teaching and research at the Faculty of Science. Students from the department will offer the audience a tour of the museum at night. Moreover, the students will be able to tell stories in an understandable, semi-academic language making it an enjoyable learning experience.
“It is our hope that everyone who visits the museums will be inspired and receptive to fresh ideas, and that they will alter their perception of a trip to the Faculty of Science as something that is more than just a scientific event. The nightly exhibition is appropriate for visitors of all ages, and it will be especially great for kids who have accompanied their parents to help develop learning and foster a wider imagination,” Asst. Prof. Dr. Wichet concluded.
The exhibition will be open to the public free of charge.
How to get there: Take the MRT to Sam Yan Station, or take a bus and get off at the stop in front of the King Chulalongkorn Memorial Monument.
Parking is free at the Faculty of Science and opens on December 16, 2022, at 18:00 hrs. and on December 17–18, 2022 at noon.
