As a knowledge development center for technology, innovation and research for the environment, the Center of Excellence on Hazardous Substance Management is focused on the effective handling and control of hazardous chemicals and substances through a variety of research clusters. The center is also intent on producing higher level graduates and developing personnel in organizations to have the skill and expertise to manage hazardous chemicals and substances. Another key task is for the center to be an information source for knowledge transfer, whether as a reference source, a provider of academic services, or a consultant to the manufacturing sector and the state.
