Chulalongkorn University Launches “Exoskeleton Wheelchair”- A Robotic Suit that helps people with Disabilities Sit, Stand and Walk 

Associate Professor Dr. Ronnapee Chaichaowarat, Faculty of Engineering, Chula opened the door to his robotics lab showing the Exoskeleton Wheelchair prototype for the elderly and people with mobility problems so they can leave their wheelchair behind to stand and walk with one robot.

“Toys and home decorations for the elderly”, an innovation that creates good physical and mental well-being, helps slow down memory lapses, and reduces the risk of depression. Most recently, the item won the 2024 Creative Excellence Awards 2024 in the category of creative power for society, reaffirming its success in designing to improve the quality of life of the elderly.

“Whooping Cough” is a bacterial respiratory tract infection that causes severe, persistent coughing, with particularly severe symptoms in young children under 6 months old. Older children, teenagers, and adults who have previously been vaccinated typically develop less severe symptoms. However, vaccine-induced immunity does not last a lifetime, and individuals are recommended to consider receiving a booster shot to enhance immunity.

Students of the Faculty of Science, Chulalongkorn University came up with the idea of “COCOLAMP” — light bulb shades that divert lights on the beach that interfere with the spawning of sea turtles and help sea turtle hatchlings to crawl safely into the sea. This innovation is for the conservation of sea turtles, and the promotion of their coexistence with humans.

The Halal Science Center, Chulalongkorn University has developed Halal Route, an application that lists restaurants, lodging, mosques, prayer directions, and tourist attractions in Thailand under Islamic tourism principles. “Transfersome Gel” a New Solution for Hypertrophic Scars Chula Pharmacy’s Latest Innovation

Lecturers at the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chulalongkorn University, have developed an alternative “Transfersome Gel” to help treat hypertrophic scars and dark marks. This gel, made from a key substance found in the Indian pennywort (Centella asiatica) plant, features a special technique that has earned it the International Gold Medal of Innovation at ITEX 2024 and a special award from the Korea Invention Promotion Association.

Chula’s encouragement and support for research is excellent for teachers, students, and the public.
