Commendations to Faculty Member from the Faculty of Architecture for Winning an Award at Japan Design, Idea and Invention Expo (JDIE 2023)

Chulalongkorn University congratulates Dr. Shanya Orasutthikul of the Department of Architecture, Faculty of Architecture, along with Dr. Saran Keeratihattayakorn from the Interdisciplinary Program of Biomedical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Mr. Varoon Waranyanon from PetroMAT, and IRPC PCL., for being recipients of a gold medal and a special award from the World Invention Intellectual Property Associations (WIIPA) at the Japan Design, Idea and Invention Expo (JDIE 2023). 

The winning innovation is a novel eco-friendly polymer blend of recycled PET, ABS and SAD for 3D printing materials. The goals of this innovation are to improve fiber properties, reduce the smell while printing, improve certain mechanical properties, while maintaining good printing efficiency. It is another way to transform plastic waste into a new product in accordance with the circular economy policy and the country’s SDGs.
