Chulalongkorn Professor from Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences Clinches SAIHL Thailand Outstanding Achievement Award 2023 for Innovation

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Jittima Luckanagul, Associate Dean for Global Engagement and International Affairs at the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chulalongkorn University, has been honored with the SAIHL Thailand Outstanding Achievement Award 2023 in the field of innovation. This prestigious award recognizes individuals with high-impact work in innovation. 

Expressing her gratitude, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Jittima emphasized the award’s role in fueling her ongoing commitment to innovation. She aims to cultivate students and professionals capable of creating valuable innovations for the nation, thereby bolstering the country’s economy through groundbreaking research endeavors. 

Pioneering Innovation at Chulalongkorn University 

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Jittima takes pride in spearheading initiatives aimed at fostering impactful research in science and technology. She believes that such research is pivotal in driving innovation with tangible economic impact at national and global levels. Notably, her leadership in Club Chula Spin-Off aims to revolutionize research-based innovation, attracting students across all levels to the realms of science and technology. 

Success of Club Chula Spin-off 

As President of Club Chula Spin-Off, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Jittima envisions the project as an ecosystem where esteemed professors converge to advance their research endeavors for the betterment of industry sectors and the country’s socioeconomic landscape. She describes the club as an unprecedented cluster in Thailand, dedicated to exchanging experiences, creating innovations with potential for global competition, and driving policies conducive to impactful outputs.  With over 100 members and plans for expansion under the banner of One Team Thailand, the club aims to draw members from other universities to foster knowledge and innovation that addresses societal needs on the national and international scale. 

Future Research  

Looking ahead, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Jittima outlines two primary objectives. Firstly, she seeks to cultivate highly skilled human resources capable of thriving in the digital age. Secondly, she aims to collaborate with Nabsolute, a Chula startup, to innovate a targeted drug delivery system for enhanced treatment efficiency.  This technology, intended for use in both human and animal vaccination, aims for international competitiveness and global patent protection. 

Principles for Success in Research and Innovation 

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Jittima underscores the importance of setting clear and measurable goals in research and innovation endeavors, starting with deciding on what achievements are needed for society, then finding a way to work towards that goal. She emphasizes prioritizing interests, resources, expertise and goals while remaining flexible in methodologies. Ultimately, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Jittima believes that the passion and dedication of Chula’s community can lead to meaningful innovations that benefit the country.
