On Friday, January 19, 2024, from 09:00 am – 12:00 pm, the Graduate School Chulalongkorn University hosted the regular meeting of the Council of the Graduate Studies Administrators of Public and Autonomous Universities (CGAU) no. 1/2024. The meeting was conducted in a hybrid manner at Meeting Room 202 on the 2nd floor of Chamchuri 4 Building, Chulalongkorn University, and via Zoom. Representatives from 22 member institutions attended the meeting, with 18 present on-site and 4 online. Asst. Prof. Dr. Pomthong Malakul Na Ayudhaya, Vice President for Administration, Arts and Culture Management, delivered a welcome speech and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yootthana Chuppunnarat, Dean of Graduate School, gave a presentation. In addition, Prof. Dr. Pirom Kamolratanakul, Chairperson of the Chulalongkorn University Council, gave a lecture and offered words of congratulations on the 28th anniversary of CGAU’s establishment. CGAU President and Dean off Multidisciplinary and Interdisciplinary School, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Apichat Sopadang, expressed his gratitude to Chulalongkorn University for hosting the meeting. The meeting was moderated by Asst. Prof. Dr. Thanasin Chutintaranond from the Faculty of Communication Arts, Chulalongkorn University.
The event also featured a special lecture on “Viewing Graduate Studies Policy through the 2022 Curriculum Standards” given by Prof. Dr. Supachai Pathumnakul, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation. The lecture involved matters on the changes in 2022 graduate studies curriculum standards, including full-time lecturers, qualifications relevant to the program’s field of study, full-time researchers, external organizations, qualifications, characteristics, and number of lecturers, education management, and graduation requirements for master’s and doctoral degrees. The reasons behind these changes are to allow for flexible education design that can respond promptly to changing situations, with the university council holding the power, promote collaboration with external organizations, encourage the creation of new knowledge which requires interdisciplinary integration, leading to research with practical economic use. The meeting then proceeded with the items on the agenda, with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Apichat Sopadang, CGAU President and Dean off Multidisciplinary and Interdisciplinary School, as the moderator.
