Apply Now for the APRU SDG Education for Global Citizenship 2024

Are you aspiring to be a global citizen?  

The Office of International Affairs and Global Network, Chulalongkorn University cordially invites Chula students to join the APRU SDG4GC program with the theme “Shaping the Future of Health & Wellbeing” from June 1, 2024 to August 30, 2024,to learn more about the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and explore some of the world’s biggest challenges under the guidance of mentors and experts.  

The 2024 program is chaired byChulalongkorn Universitywith the Universiti Malayaas Vice-Chair. In partnership with the UN, it is co-designed with the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Kyushu University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and Simon Fraser University

This year, APRU SDG4GC will be conducted as a hybrid program. 

Program Key Features: 

  • Orientation program, interactive lectures, and training provided by APRU member universities, UN agencies, and experts from the field. 
  • UN SDG Primer Course which is self-paced will establish a common base of understanding and approach for the UN system in supporting the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. 
  • Teamwork with students from 60 universities in 20 economies. 
  • Mentorship program facilitated by academics and design thinking experts will guide teams of students to develop social innovation prototypes to address pressing challenges of our societies globally. 
  • One-week onsite program either in Malaysia or Thailand, which will be co-hosted by Universiti Malaya and Chulalongkorn University. The onsite experiential learning will entail field visit to learn locally embedded unique case studies and practices via community engagement. Students will be trained with ethical understanding and practices of community engaged research. The program will also provide cultural learning opportunities and workshop to share the insights and findings from the field visit, and teamwork to consolidate the data. 
  • Pitching competition will showcase students’ work and will be judged by a panel of UN experts and practitioners. 
  • Winning team will be awarded with a special achievement certificate issued by UNESCAP Subregional office for South-East Asia. 
  • Certificate of completion jointly issued by partners. 
  • Credits can be providedto Chulalongkorn University students via GenEd. 

Eligibility 

  • Enrolled at an APRU member university during the program period. 
  • Undergraduate and graduate (Master’s degree) students in any discipline. 
  • Completed at least one year of undergraduate studies. 
  • Good command of English language. 

Important Dates 

Application deadline for Chula Students: March 15, 2024 
Program period: June 1-August 30, 2024 
Onsite program in Thailand/Malaysia: July 20-28, 2024
