Chulalongkorn University proudly congratulates Professor Dr. Rungsun Rerknimitr, Assistant to the President for Innovation at Chulalongkorn University and a faculty member of the Faculty of Medicine, on receiving the Outstanding Internist Award in Academic Excellence for 2025 from the Royal College of Physicians of Thailand.
The Outstanding Internist Award is given in recognition of internists who demonstrate exceptional dedication, sacrifice, and ethical integrity in their profession. The award aims to encourage and support the advancement of medical practice while serving as an inspiration for other professionals in the field. Nominees for the award are selected by a nationwide panel of general members, hospital directors, provincial public health doctors, professional medical associations, and institutions specializing in internal medicine.
Professor Dr. Rungsun Rerknimitr is a leading expert in the field of gastroenterology, particularly in the diagnosis and treatment of gastrointestinal cancers. Among his notable achievements is the development of artificial intelligence tools for endoscopy, designed to assist physicians in screening for colorectal cancer. In recognition of his innovative work, Professor Dr. Rungsun was also named National Outstanding Researcher in the Medical Sciences for 2025 by the National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT).
