Nan Reforestation Project #2

On Saturday, 27 July 2019, Chulalongkorn University‘s Center of Learning Network for the Region joined the Mae Fah Luang Foundation Under Royal Patronage and Kasikorn Bank to organize, for the second year, the Nan Reforestation Project in tribute to King Maha Vajiralongkorn’s birthday on 28 July 2019.  Professors, staff, and students of Chulalongkorn University helped the community by planting trees to create more green space and provide clean air for people of Nan.  The group planted 5,000 trees in Ban Namka, Nan.  Mr. Thavat Jarasvorapat, Chiang Klang’s District Chief, and Assistant Professor Dr. Wichase Konsue, Director at the Center of Learning Network for the Region, presided over the opening ceremony.

Moreover, the Chula volunteers visited the operation center at the Center of Learning Network for the Region in Phasingha, and Viengsa, Nan, to learn about goat meat, swine farming, processed products from goat milk, and organic farming.  The volunteers also took the opportunity to visit the Natural History Museum of Nan to observe the various exhibits related to agriculture and livestock, including raising cows native to Nan, conserving swamp buffaloes, running organic frog farms, and breeding earthworms.
